Earlier this year my girlfriend's father decided to take a trip to Canada to catch the Red Sox play in Toronto. The night before game 2 of the series, he was at a club and decided to go upstairs to check out the VIP section. Who was there? None other than Sox pitcher Manny Delcarmen. He witnessed Delcarmen consume a fair amount of alcohol during this time.

After the whole 'rest or surgery' debate before the season started, I figured that this moment would come eventually. Curt Schilling will undergo season ending surgery on his pitching shoulder next week. This could potentially be career ending as Curt said, "there is a pretty decent chance that I've thrown my last pitch forever."

Growing up my dad always told me not to boo. "We're not a booing family" he would tell me, and I have, for the most part, stuck to that. I think it's unfair to boo and overly heckle a player who is struggling. I would really hate it if I was having a bad day or week and someone came to my desk and started booing me. It certainly wouldn't help me pick myself...

With his 92nd career save in last night's 3-0 win over the Philadelphia Phillies, Papelbon now has the 3rd most in Red Sox franchise history. Saves are a relatively new statistic but both men in front of him are members of the 'Red Sox Hall of Fame.' The list currently looks like this:
