According to the Chicago Tribune, the deal that would send Jermaine Dye to the Cincinnati Red is completely false.
A source familiar with the talks rejected a report in the Dayton DailyNews quoting a "major-league source close to the situation" that a deal to send Sox right fielder Jermaine Dye to Cincinnati for pitcher Homer Bailey "was done and would be announced this week.
"According to Hal McCoy of the Dayton Daily News, Jermaine Dye has just been traded to the Cincinnati Reds for RHP Homer Bailey. A major-league source has told The Dayton Daily News, "The deal is done and will be announced this week."
