According to MLBTR, Ken Rosenthal said the Cubs could trade Zambrano this offseason in a recent video on foxsports.net I have to ask, who is running the team? Is it the media and fans or is it Tom Ricketts, Crane Kenney, and Jim Hendry? I’d like to think it’s the latter, but that would basically mean Ken Rosenthal is making **** up. That’s entirely possible and I hope that’s what it is. So with Rich Harden headed to free agency, Ken Rosenthal thinks the Cubs might believe the answer to their rotation is to trade Zambrano? Another answer is to trade Bradley, which some sources also believe is inevitable? Are the Cubs having a fire sale without acknowledging that’s what they might do, or is the media just completely full of ****?

Will Bradley and Zambrano End up on the Block?

According to a report from Bruce Levine Sunday afternoon, "the team will most likely explore deals for outfielder Milton Bradley and starting pitcher Carlos Zambrano" this off-season. Bob Nightengale from USA Today mentioned on ESPN 1000 Friday night that he could see the Cubs trading Milton Bradley to the Texas Rangers this winter, with the Cubs eating half of his remaining...

Gamecast: September 11th vs. Reds

Justin  Lehr (4-1, 4.43 ERA) vs. Rich Harden (9-8, 4.10 ERA) Story LinesWhile the Cubs may be furstrating at times, it is good to reflect on how great the game of baseball truly is. It amazes me that eight years have passed since September 11th, but here we are and the game we love is still talking up our time even when things are not great. Regardless of how you feel about...

Cubs 101 - Pt. 63 - Derrek Lee's Inhumane Season

Following the Cubs 2003 grasp at glory, Jim Hendry made some swooping moves to make the team even better in 2004.  One of the best of these moves was a deal with the always-money-conscious Marlins for a then-27-year-old first baseman who had, in Rob's words, been the least-threatening member of a dangerous Florida lineup in the 2003 NLCS. Still, it turns out that Derrek...

Game Recap: Cubs 6, Reds 4

(recap graphic to come tomorrow) Geovany Soto, where have you been?  They must have confiscated his reefer at the airport or something, because the Cubs second-year catcher brought his hitting cleats to tonight's game.  By that I mean he went 1 for 3 with a sacrifice fly and a solo homerun, which makes this game for Soto quite an achievement.  (At this point we...

Rubber Match - Ted Lilly vs Homer Bailey

Saturday saw the Cubs bring their four game winning streak to a close. It ended despite coming back from 5-0 deficit against the Reds. In a game marred by poor defense by the Cubs, Carlos Marmol was just wild enough, and gave up two hits, to give the game back to the visitors from Ohio, 7-5.Ted Lilly and Homer Bailey will match-up in Sunday's rubber match. Lilly's been great...

Five Questions About Cubs' 2010 Rotation

For the third consecutive year, the Chicago Cubs have gotten sparkling performances out of their starting rotation. Even with injuries to each of the top four slated starters, and inconsistent play from Carlos Zambrano, Ryan Dempster and Rich Harden, the team's starters have been their strength: Chicago leads the league in quality start percentage, at 61 percent, and Chicago...

Alfonso Soriano's Season Likely Over

In an odd way, 2009 has been somewhat of a lucky season for Alfonso Soriano. Not because he's played well for the Chicago Cubs, as he's only hitting .240 with 20 home runs, but because Milton Bradley has drawn most of the vitriol from the Chicago media and Cubs fans. So Soriano's lack of production has been somewhat under the radar.I wouldn't even be surprised if...

Come To Think of It: Friday's Cubs Game Offers Rule Change Reminder

I don’t know about you, but I would like to see major league baseball alter the way in which it allocates wins to pitchers in a ballgame. This is nothing new, but Friday’s Cubs game reminded me of how unfair the current rules are. After starter Rich Harden threw an astounding 103 pitches in only four innings of work (not a recipe for success by the way), Jeff Stevens...

Another Glimpse Of What Could Have Been As Cubs Beat Reds

The Chicago Cubs won their fourth consecutive game Friday, beating Cincinnati 6-4 in the opener of a three-game weekend set at Wrigley Field. Starter Rich Harden lasted just four innings, but got help from the Cubs bats, as Geovany Soto homered and Aramis Ramirez went three-for-three. Despite another rough outing in which he surrendered three runs in one inning of work, Cubs...

Sutton's pinch-hit double drops Marmol, Cubs

Pinch-hitter Drew Sutton lined a two-out, two-run double off Carlos Marmol in the ninth inning and the Cincinnati Reds beat the Chicago Cubs 7-5 after squandering a five-run lead Saturday.

Cincinnati Reds (63-77) at Chicago Cubs (71-67), 2:20 p.m.

Right-hander Rich Harden can get back to double-digit wins for the second straight time and keep playoff hope alive for the Chicago Cubs today when they host the Cincinnati Reds in the opener of a three-game set at Wrigley Field.
