Best Athletes By The Numbers:
Playing 21 seasons of Major League Baseball, and earning an induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003, Eddie Murray is the best MLB athlete to ever wear the jersey number 33.
Murray was the AL Rookie of the Year in 1977, playing with the Baltimore Orioles. He played in 160 games as a young rookie, smacking 27 homers that year. He would reach double digits in home runs for each of the next 19 seasons. That consistency allowed Murray to reach 504 career total home runs. He coupled that with a career .287 batting average and 1,917 career RBI.
Did you know......that Murray played six games at third base during his career?

If Jones goes, Gonzalez may become an option
Facing the realization that they will be one outfielder short if they trade Adam Jones to the Baltimore Orioles as part of the package for lefty starter Eric Bedard, Seattle is looking at other outfield options.
Oriole Fans Are Very Pissed at Kevin Millar
Well, on the blogosphere, the internet and on talk radio, the whole issue of Kevin Millar taking part in the ALCS for the Red Sox seemed to be a bit much to swallow for the vast majority of Baltimore Orioles fans. I can see why fans are upset, but honestly, I think the Orioles have far more to worry about than a player acting as a quasi-cheerleader for another team.
It's gotten...
Series Split
After a 3-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday, the Sox let the Orioles even the series up in a 6-5 loss in which the Orioles rallied in the ninth against Bobby Jenks to push it into extra innings. In the bottom of the tenth inning Adam Jones hit a single that scored the [...]
The Art of Hitting; The Roundup: O's News...
There's a bit of stuff to go through in the roundup, but before we any further, Pressbox/MASN/WHFS's Amber Theoharis has a great piece on the art of hitting perhaps inspired by the recent struggles of the Baltimore Orioles. Simply put, she does a fine job explaining more or less why it is so hard to hit a major league pitcher.
I played baseball growing and actually have...
Six In A Row; Orioles Down Rangers, 8-1
Where are the Baltimore Orioles who we thought would suck and what has been done with them? In another combination team effort at the plate, backed the impressive outing by Brian Burres (yes, folks I have spelled his name right finally), Baltimore beat Texas, 8-1.Luke Scott and Scott Moor...
How Low Can the Baltimore Orioles Go?
As we are only mere days from pitchers and catcher showing up for Spring Training, it does not need to be repeated that the Baltimore Orioles have a lot of holes to fill.Despite the good job done by Andy MacPhail at the moment in securing young talent and taking the steps to replenish the minor leagu...
Tales of the curve: an analysis of Erik Bedard
Baltimore Orioles ace Erik Bedard had a breakout season in 2007 before being sidelined at the end of August with an injury to his oblique muscle. Prior to his final start, he was receiving strong Cy Young Award consideration with a 13-4 record, a 2.97 ERA, and a league-leading 218 strikeouts and only...
Fantasy Baseball Sleepers
Today's list of sleepers has more of a washed-up/written-off flavor. These players should get you thinking of other ones in similar circumstances. OF Luke Scott Baltimore Orioles: Left-handed power on a bad team? I'll take that for a potential 20+ HRs. INF Nick Punto Minnesota...
Mets Release Cherry, Might Be Back For Rocky II
The Mets released relief pitcher Rocky Cherry Tuesday after he cleared waivers, but a team spokesman said Cherry could be re-signed to a minor-league contract.
Cherry, a Rule 5 draft pick, was offered back to the Baltimore Orioles after clearing waivers, but the Orioles declined to pay the $25,000 fee to get him back.
The Mets acquired Cherry, who had a 2.25 ERA in four Grapefruit...
Agent Spotlight: Ron Shapiro
Combining a great understanding of sport with an impeccable intellect makes for quite a potentially successful agent. Baltimore, MD based Ron Shapiro embodies both elements as one of the most popular baseball agents who also happened to graduate cum laude from Harvard Law School. The USA Today and Sporting News have even thrown him some awards ("one of baseball's most respected...
Orioles and Nationals - Rival Crime Syndicates
DC and Baltimore are healthy rivals to say the least. They usually run neck and neck in poor education, government corruption, and gentrification.
Sports is no exception to this culture, even in their criminal controversies. This week alone, the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals have been embroiled in scandal worthy of Frank Lucas' stamp of approval.
Both teams...
Yankees To Start Pavano Or Hughes Sat.
While the Yankees aren't technically eliminated from the playoffs yet, they are going to need more starting pitching in order to hang on.
As the rotation stands right now they've got Mike Mussina, Andy Pettitte, Sidney Ponson, Darrell Rasner, and one yet to be named. The fifth starter won't be needed until Saturday against the Baltimore Orioles.
The two likeliest...
