Mauer
Eye-black hotnessJoe Mauer has enough at bats to earn another American League batting championship, and pretty soon, he'll have enough plate appearances.

After going 3-for-3 with two walks Wednesday afternoon in the Minnesota Twins’ 5-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals, he spiked his batting average to .392, making him just eight plate appearances short of the 3.1 per game needed to qualify for another batting title.

Mauer, who already made catching-history by earning two AL batting trophies, has manager Ron Gardnehire on his side.
"If I have anything to do with it, he’ll qualify," the Twins skipper said. "I don’t mind writing his name in there. He’ll get plenty of at-bats."
Man Muscles has nailed 14 homers, 44 RBIs and has walked 33 times this season. He also stole a base one time.

Speaking of the Twins, here is one picture of many great ones I received via text message from our very own Marea the other day, while she was visiting Busch Stadium on her recent midwest ballpark tour. Awesome.

Let's get Denarded(I cropped the guy out of the pic in case he didn't want to be famous.)

Minnesota Ice

I love Joe Mauer, but I'm guessing he's got no flow: Joe Mauer is from Minnesota. He is white. He plays Major League Baseball. He is considered something of a pretty boy. None of these four things outlaws him from practicing his secret hobby. All of them combined into one 6-foot-5, sideburn-wearing, .400-flirting catcher, however, makes for the unlikeliest rapper in the...

Breaking Down Scott Baker

Scott Baker isn’t necessarily known as a control pitcher, but his performance on June 30 against the Kansas City Royals left much to be desired. While expecting him to be on top of his game may have been too much to expect considering his recent string of four consecutive quality starts, an outing this wild [...]

For Baker, release matters

Facing the Royals, a team who struggled to score runs (4.05 per game) and strikes out in hearty portion of their plate appearances (15%) it would be assumed that Scott Baker would slice through them like a butter-knife in melted Velveeta.  After all, Baker's most recent start bucked a trend in which he had gone at least six innings with a minimum of five strikeouts in his...
