Gordon Wittenmyer's tweets that the Cubs will go with Carlos Marmol as closer...as expected. It's like choosing your death by slowing draining the blood out of your body versus stepping on a landmine. Good luck with that Cubs... Ryan Theriot is back tonight....and the great scrap-off of '09 can commence between him and David Eckstein, who scrapped out a the tying run with that walk in the 9th. Theriot, Bradley, Lee, Ramirez, Fukudome, Soriano, Baker, Soto and Dempster go for the Cubs.

TMS Endorses Angel Guzman

Well it only took 6 blown saves and 12 home runs to finally get the point across that Kevin Gregg should not be our god damn closer.Unfortunately there's not much else available for alternatives. The fact that Carlos Marmol or John Grabow are even being considered for closing duties would be laughable if I wasn't already scared shitless that it could become a very real possibility...

With Gregg Out as Closer, What's Next?

The Chicago Cubs and Lou Piniella have finally come to their senses. It is likely that Kevin "Blown Save" Gregg is finally not the closer anymore for the north siders. Closing Time: Who Will Close for the Chicago Cubs Next Season?

Even I, a die hard Brewers fan, have to admit that I had a hard time watching Kevin Gregg’s last performance on Monday against the Padres.  Sitting with three Cubs fans and watching Gregg give up the game-tying and game winning runs was just too much to bear, so I decided to look ahead and give the North Siders some hope for next year. Gregg is set to become a free agent...
