Mighty Quinn Media Machine:
Did you see this column written by Tony Massarotti of the Boston Globe earlier this week before the World Series began? He comes right out and says that Red Sox Nation should be rooting for the Yankees in this World Series.Yep, you read that right. Rooting for the Yankees to win their 27th championship. Not a chance, pal.Massarotti basically says the spark has gone out of the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry, and that rooting for them will light a competitive fire under the Red Sox. As a Red Sox fan for most of my life, there is no possible way, no possible circumstance that would EVER have me pull for the New York Yankees. I didn't root for them in 2001 after the 9/11 attacks. (And I want to find these "Red Sox fans" who were suppose...

Matsui Becomes Spectator in NL Park
by Ed PriceFiled under: Yankees, MLB Playoffs, World SeriesPHILADELPHIA -- The man who hit the go-ahead homer for the Yankees in Game 2 of the World Series will almost certainly not be starting Game 3. With the shift to the National League park and the loss of the desingated hitter, it would seem a stretch for the Yankees to put Hideki Matsui in the outfield. Because of his knees...
Yankees Take Series Lead
New York's bats came to life in Philadelphia giving the Yanks a 2 to 1 lead over the Phillies.
Pettitte RBI may be Series turning point
1. If Game 3 is the turning point of the World Series -- 68 percent of teams up 2-1 go on to win it -- then a Yankees championship began with one pitch from Cole Hamels that will be remembered as one of the great gaffes in recent Series history. The beginning of the end for Philadelphia was a first-pitch curveball Hamels threw New York pitcher Andy Pettitte with no understanding...
What to Expect from Andy Pettitte
World Series Game 3 in Philadelphia will feature a match-up between two southpaws, Cole Hamels and Andy Pettitte. A fair assessment of the pitchers reveals that Hamels has been much better than his statistics have shown and Pettitte has been slightly better, as the two have an xFIP (per The Hardball Times) of 3.75 and [...]
Swisher takes a seat
The new haircut didn't end Nick Swisher's postseason blahs, so maybe a seat on the bench will.
Tired of waiting for Swisher to emerge from October hibernation, manager Joe Girardi last night gave Jerry Hairston Jr. a start in right field for Game ...

Harper: Girardi catches breaks with moves
A.J. Burnett proved his worth with the kind of outing his team desperately needed. Jose Molina helped make it possible. But the Yankees' road back to 1-1 in the Series most surely started with Joe Girardi's refusal to panic.
Phil regrets outburst
During these playoffs, Joe Girardi has drawn a fair share of disdain for heavy reliance on scouting reports. Add Phil Hughes to those who has lost fondness for the reports. Hughes insisted before Game 2 that he was physically fine and that previo...
