The world knows this much about Matt Cassel: - he single handedly caused an 8 point swing in the Jets vs. Patriots betting spread - he hasn't started a football game since high school (unless he plays on Thanksgivings) - know one has any idea what to expect (including Matt) But we do know this much: he is as comfortable on stage as Jonathan Papelbon is doing the jig Three horrific videos of MR. Cassel on the jump... Thoughts?!

Too early to say Matt can't QB, but I agree, he sure can dance :)

What I want to know is WHY do the Patriots LOVE taking baseball players and turning them into football players? Is it some kind of werid experiment?

Matthew Cassel was born on May 17, 1982 ... Played on the Northridge (Calif.) team that was a finalist at the 1994 Little League World Series ... Was featured in the HBO documentary "Freshman Year," filmed in 1999-2000 ... Older brother, Jack, is a pitcher for the Houston Astros and younger brother, Justin, is in the Chicago White Sox system - Helped Chatsworth to the L.A. City baseball title in 1999 while hitting .390 with three home runs and 29 RBI as a first baseman and third baseman. ... Was a communication major at USC.

So HE DIDN'T even PLAY FOOTBALL at USC?? WTF.
  • To be fair, I think I heard somewhere that he DID start a game in college. Albeit at tight end. And yes, Pinkpanthrrr, he did play football. He was both Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart's back-up. USC scores alot of points, so I'm pretty sure that he played a decent amount of garbage time.

Right. Palmer and Leinart...who were BETTER then him...and they are not so great.
The pats should have gone after Favre.
  • i hope cassel wins every game for the pats so all the jelious people will have to find something else to talk about becouse they wish there team was as great as the pats
  • To think the PATS would considerFarve and his 12 mil contract when they had a healthy T Brady starting already is idiotic. Farve was already signed by the Jets when Brady went down. The Pats will be fine this year. Don't forget who the coach is.
  • I hope Cassel shows them like Brady did when Drew went down. If not, Culpepper is still out there & would love to play with Moss again.
    Keep the faith.
  • Stop worrying about the PATS they will be fine. Cassel is better than most people give him credit for. Not saying a superbowl is up and coming but if Cassel leads the PATS to the playoffs what more can you ask? And yes, I am another fan of Culpepper coming in and taking over if Cassel should prove not to be worthy of his starting spot. Its so funny to see how many PATS haters out there. I love it because at the end of the day we are still one of the best team to hit the field. Most teams can only dream of setting as many records as the PATS have set. For all you haters, keep hating.
  • Doesn't anyone remember what The Pats did to Drew after Brady took over? Drew was their QB, he won games for them for years. He gets hurt and doesn't even get his job back when he became healthy. What are all of you Pats fans going to do if Cassel does good and they again let the bus run over Brady like they did with Bledsoe?
    • I'm sure they already had ideas of replacing Bledsoe anyway. Brady wasn't Tom Teriffic in that first season. Brady on the other hand, was at the absolute top of the game, and it's not unlikely he'll be 100% when he comes back, physically, at least.
  • jake the snake plummerseen in new england....wow,this could be good
  • wow pinkpanthrrr why would the pats want a quarterback that just throws up junk. farve could throw 4 picks a game in green bay the fans didnt care. remember he is in ny now and ny fans are A@@holes and wont put up with that for all we know he will turn into vince young i will put my faith in matt over farve anyday
  • I'm not a pats fan, but I hope Cassel does good. I think it will expose Tom for what he really is. An average QB on a great team. I have long said you can't measure a QB's greatness with rings. And all those SB the pats won were all 3 point games won on the leg of #4. Tom was merely a game manager.
    • How do you explain the successful seasons with teams half as talented as the current? He's gotten by with virtually zero running game and mediocre receivers.
  • you spelled "no" wrong
  • Your point is? So what he has fun it only shows hes human Dancing/Singing has NOTHING to do with football this post gets a capital F A I L
  • Being a Patriots fan here in New York was really awesome this week, taking on the Jets, and all the remarks about how bad they would be without Brady. It was so good to see the defense really step up to stop the Favre Jets, especially on the 3 yard line. The Patriots will be fine, looking forward to another great season.
  • I hope all the NE Patriots go down. Cheaters never win!
