They also did'nt know that a football game could end in a tie!
Notice anything strange about this picture?A typo in a media guide, on a blog or website, or in a program is one thing. But how does the front of a jersey reading "NATINALS" get by the seamstress, equipment manager and the players that put it on?(Image courtesy of D.C. Sports Bog)

Of course, only Nick Johnson (who had been traded to Montreal in 2004, although on the DL for most of the season) could attest to that, but, in five-year hindsight now, did MLB REALLY solve the "Montreal problem"? I think Bud Selig and his cast of undertakers only relocated this hot-potato of a franchise to DC. Look at the Nats' performance on and off the field since the then-Expos became them. Look at their consistently-declining attendance figures, this despite having moved into a spanking new stadium last year. And look ahead to see nothing but a very bleek future (no farm system help in the horizon, which used to be the Expos' trademark ) for this franchise. Many have often chuckled in the past asking "what the hell is an "Expo" ???". Well, what the hell is a "Natinal", or even a "National" for that matter. Pardon my English here, but my understanding of this word has always been that a national is, well, an immigrant (and not always "legal"). "The Nationals of the National League". Come on, what a joke! Come to think of it, five years removed from this mess of a franchise, I'm still better off (despite the cost) having to drive five hours to either Boston (when I can find tickets) or Toronto (such fickle fans, tickets are ALWAYS available) to get my occasional MLB fix. Every game has become a road game for me. But hey, I'm now completely emotionnaly detached from this franchise that once literally was the love of my life (well, next to my daughter...). And all I can say now is: new city (and stadium), same crappy results... What a pity! p.s. And just ask the players around just how much they miss the Montreal nightlife and strip joints!

Great job! The letter "O" is overrated.

I think the seamstress, equipment manager and the players that put it on are all Yard Barkers. That's how it all got by them!!!!

How Low Can You Go? Washington Nationals Attendance
Nationals Park, sparsely attended last season Even with a $611 million public investment, back in 2004-2005 there was a lot of talk by baseball boosters in the D.C. area that droves of fans coming from northern Virginia would spend their discretionary income in and around the new ballpark for the Washington Nationals, thus off-setting the public outlay. The problem is, you have to...
Majestic Athletic Issues Apology for NATINALS Jerseys
"I'd like to buy a vowel, Pat." Majestic Athletic issues an apology for the misspelling of NATIONALS on Ryan Zimmerman and Adam Dunn's jerseys.(Click to see in larger view) It was, well... something you don't see everyday. But, during Saturday's game at Nationals Park, Ryan Zimmerman and Adam Dunn had jerseys that read: NATINALS -- the "O"...
Dukes Fined by Nats for Charity-Related Lateness
Elijah Dukes, he of the life-threatening anger management issues, has been relatively harmless since he joined the Washington Nationals unless you’re an opposing pitcher. His .323 average and two home runs in nine games have been a bright spot in another dim year-to-come for D.C. baseball.
(Sorry; hugging is a fineable offense)
However, Dukes can’t seem [...]
Mets Sign Wily Mo Pena
The Mets have signed Wily Mo Pena to a minor league deal. Pena had refused a minor league assignment with the Washington Nationals during spring training so I thought it was interesting that he’d accept a minor league deal here. Turns out that there is a clause in the contract that allows him [...]

Dan Leatherman Comparisons
When we signed Dan Leatherman to be a Dynasty baseball client in March of this year, we thought he was a talented player who unfortunately was dropped by an MLB organization and would have to spend some time with an Independent League team before making his way back to the Minors. We were delighted to hear that the Washington Nationals were interested in Dan and quickly jumped on...

What's Beef?
Beef is misspelling your own team's name to throw shade on a regional rival.By now, it's been pretty widely publicized that the Nats sent two of their own onto the field this weekend in jerseys that read "Natinals." There are any number of explanations, most of which involve incompetence or ineptness, but theory I choose to subscribe to is this: In the 34 years between the Senators...

As if Lastings Milledge needed any more motivation to make the Washington Nationals' Opening Day roster than showing the New York Mets that they made a mistake by trading him to DC,(for Brian Schneider and Ryan Church), the Nationals offered Milledge further incentive on Friday wh...
It Hasn't Been This Bad for 105 Years
(by Mark Hornbaker) As bad as it is right now for our 1-10 Washington Nationals it was even worse for the 1904 Washington Senators ball club. The 1904 Washington Senators started the season with a 0-13-1 record. The Senators finally won their first game of the year on May 5th when they beat the New York Yankees 9-4.

Bullpen shakeup in DC
The Atlanta Braves get the first crack at the new instalment of the Washington Nationals bullpen. After blowing a three game series against the Florida Marlins the Nationals have made a few changes to their bullpen.
After starting the season 0-7 the Nationals broke though with a win against Philadelphia on Thursday and had their pen [...]
