Eli's MLB Rumors:
FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the Nationals will fire manager Manny Acta and replace him with bench coach Jim Riggleman. Acta has been with the team since the 2007 season, and has done a fairly good job despite poor records. Third baseman Ryan Zimmerman is having a breakout year for the Nationals, hitting .315 with 11 home runs and a .391 on-base percentage. Acta also has had an influence on young catcher Jesus Flores, who was hitting .311 with 4 home runs and 5 extra-base hits before landing on the disabled list. The Nationals pitching has been quite a disappointment up to this point in the season, and a change is in order. Riggleman brings years of managerial experience, having managed the Padres, Cubs, and Mariners.

Nationals Prepare for New Act(a)
Like everything else related to the Washington Nationals' front office, the situation with manager Manny Acta has been horribly mishandled. CNNSI and other sources are reporting that Acta will be fired, "perhaps as early as Monday." Everyone who has ever been asked has had only positive things to say about Acta. All the compliments are probably code for "he's not the reason the guy...

Kearns: on the outs?
Time seems to be running out for Austin Kearns...
Is the Austin Kearns Era in D.C. finally nearing its end? Manny Acta indicated that Kearns will get a crapload of playing time over the next six interleague games in AL Parks (with Dunn safely installed as DH) in hope that he can break out of the 2+ year, ~1000 AB slump he's been mired in since the midpoint of his...
What’s That Sucking Sound?
Manny Acta has apparently made a large enough sucking sound to reach the ears of Washington Nationals President Stan Kasten... because the team's 16-43 record wasn't speaking loud and clear.Ken Rosenthal has reported that the Nats skipper will be out of work by the end of the week and be replaced by bench coach Jim Riggleman. Neither coaches seem to know anything about anything,...
Acta still in charge as Nats fly north
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. | Another day passed, another game came and went and Manny Acta was still the manager of the Washington Nationals. Reports that Acta was about to be fired surfaced Saturday but hadn't come true Sunday as the Nationals left for New York, where they start a three-game series with the Yankees on Tuesday. Afforded a chance to reflect on the season before Sunday...
Nationals discover another way to lose
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. | By the time the ball clipped the inside of the third-base bag, sealing the Washington Nationals' 15th loss in 18 games, the foundation for a third straight blown lead against the Tampa Bay Rays had already been laid. There was the customary stuff: runners reaching third base with less than two outs and getting stuck there, walks turning into runs off gut-punch...
Heat on Acta rises after report of firing
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. | It's uncertain for how long, but at least for now, Manny Acta is still the Washington Nationals' manager. FoxSports.com reported Saturday afternoon that the Nationals were planning to fire Acta and replace him with bench coach Jim Riggleman in the next several days, but Acta and Riggleman both said before the Nationals' game against the Tampa Bay Rays that...
Dukes' past has passed
Two years after his off-field problems erupted into a polarizing public spectacle, Washington Nationals outfielder Elijah Dukes made his homecoming Friday night, arriving to a chorus of boos at Tropicana Field and displaying the tantalizing talent that once made him the Rays' top prospect.
Live updates: Rays vs. Nationals

Rays' rally deep-sixes Nats
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. | The Washington Nationals lost for the 44th time in 60 games on Saturday night, a stretch of futility almost as twistedly impressive in its variety as its length. The Nationals have lost games in which they've scored bunches of runs and failed to score any. They've dropped fly balls, booted grounders, thrown wild pitches, walked batters, blindly missed throws...
