Nick Johnson picks up two doubles and a home run as he drives in three in a 7-1 Nationals victory over the Mets. Johnson has been the subject of trade rumors, and the Mets could use a hard hitting first baseman. The eight total bases bring his slugging percentage up to .469. [...]

Rain + Losing = Poor Attendance for Johnson's 300th Win

Chances are less than 7,000 fans witnessed historywhen Randy Johnson got his 300th win at NationalsPark (Jonathan Newton -- The Washington Post) When it comes to the Washington Nationals this year, the saying, “When it rains, it pours” takes on multiple meanings. There’s the losing (now 17 of their last 20 and a league worst .269 winning percentage), but there’s also the...

ZIMMERMAN MAKES SIGNIFICANT GIFT TO PROGRAM THAT MADE HIM WHAT HE IS TODAY

We know that your thinking… “Loser?” C'mon, it's the Nats. However, we were thinking “major league ball palyer” because we are nicer than you and it is T.A.H. Virginia Baseball Month...Damn, why didnn't we chose February - two, count 'em, TWO fewer days. But, we digress...Ryan Zimmerman, a former All-America third baseman at Virginia and currently a member...

Willingham could return this weekend

After missing three games with a stomach virus that left him weak and unable to play, outfielder Josh Willingham turned a corner Friday, swinging in the batting cage before the Washington Nationals' game against the New York Mets. Manager Manny Acta said he would consult with Willingham about his availability, but there's a good chance Willingham could be back in the lineup...

Nats to Honor Longtime Voice of the Washington Senators

(by Mark Hornbaker) On Saturday evening before the New York Mets and Washington Nationals game the Nationals are going to honor Bob Wolff the longtime voice of the Washington Senators. Nats' Lannan

Helped out by all sorts of double plays and supported by three home runs, John Lannan threw his first career complete game Saturday night to lead the Washington Nationals to a 7-1 victory over the New York Mets.

'Signability' not a factor entering draft

The fact that the Washington Nationals own both the first and 10th picks in Tuesday's first-year player draft is both a blessing and a curse. No team ever has owned two top-10 picks, so the Nationals have an opportunity to acquire some really serious talent. Then again, they also face the daunting task of signing both players. They already know presumptive No. 1 pick Stephen...

Butchered.

(Photo of Adam Dunn on TV by Nationals Enquirer staff. Anybody looking for a DH?) "I'm really fed up with it. I'm tired of losing. I'm tired of it." (Ron Villone, via Washington Post, 6/6/2009) Mets 3, Nats 1: Recipe for disaster. Bad defense, bad umpiring, no offense, extra innings, and Hanrahan. That makes 3 losses...

Aztecs ace is hardly stressed on draft

Tomorrow, it's expected that the Washington Nationals will take San Diego State All-America pitcher Stephen Strasburg with the No. 1 overall pick in the annual major league draft.

Good Night!

(Photo by Reuters Pictures. If a win by the Nats is almost as rare as a Bigfoot sighting, what about a complete game win?) "We were due for at least good weather."(Manny Acta, via Washington Post, 6/6/2009) Nats 7, Mets 1: Completely great! A career night for John Lannan.  It feels a little strange not to have anything to...

Nats wallop Mets 7-1

The Washington Nationals have had dozens of nights to forget, a handful to cringe at and too few like Saturday night, where so many things went right. More than 30,000 fans packed Nationals Park (though plenty of them rooted for the visiting New York Mets). The Nationals' often-deplorable defense was borderline superb, and their offense rediscovered the juice it missed in a 15...

Apparently the bake sale was a success.

DC-area Moms pulled off the impossible, raising $39,767 just in time. Chico Harlan reports that Elijah Dukes paid off his estranged wife's bloodsucking lawyers before today's 5PM deadline, avoiding 90 days in jail. Anonymous sources with no knowledge of the...

Day Off on Monday and then?

The Reds have a well deserved day off on Monday. Then they have 6 more games on the road. This continues a 13 of 16 games away from GABP. The good news is that they go to the Major’s worst team, the Washington Nationals. And, then they go to the perennially bad Kansas [...]
