Found February 16, 2009 on Eli's MLB Rumors:
ESPN's Enrique Rojas is reporting that Odalis Perez has sent his agent to back to the Nationals to renegotiate his deal. "I thought it best I prefer to sit in my house if the Nationals do not show more appreciation for my work. Appreciate my work means to increase the value of the contract and guarantee it. I will not accept any minor league contracts with no safeguards. I instructed my agent to report my position to the Nationals." Perez went 7-12 with a 4.34 ERA in 30 starts last season, but had a FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) of 4.62.*
It will be interesting to see if any teams make a move for Perez, considering he hasn't had a winning record in five seasons.?
*Fielding Independent Pitching: A way to measure all of those things for which a pitcher is specifically responsible. FIP helps you understand how well a pitcher pitched, regardless of how well his fielders fielded.?

Burning bridges

So Odalis Perez hasn’t yet reported to spring training and told ESPN Deportes he wants a better contract.

The Odalis Cowboy says: Pay me, bitches!

"I thought it best and I prefer to sit in my house if the Nationals do not show more appreciation for my work. Appreciate my work means to increase the value of the contract and guarantee it. I will not accept any minor league contracts with no safeguards. I instructed my agent to report my ...

Fick-talian?!

I spent yesterday morning planning our spring training jaunt to Florida for the first week of March. We didn?t really have much choice on the date while working around our timeshare schedule limitations. This will be the first time we?ve used a timeshare - and not even at the resort we were ...

No Zim, no worries.

? "I don't think that would be smart for me to participate without a contract. As soon as I get that stuff squared away, I'll be there, ready to go. It's all part of the business. I don't think there's any hard feelings, either way."(Ryan Zimmerman, via Associated Press, 2/13/2009) Much ado ...

Spring is in the air!

Can you smell it? All it takes is a little imagination and visualization (lucky for me since I have a cold). Freshly mowed grass, the chatter of players reuniting and meeting new additions, the crack of bats (on golf balls?), healthy optimism? Media converging on growing Viera, Florida for the ...

HELLLLOOOOO WASHINGTON!

The Nats are going worst to first! Like the 1993 Phillies, The Nats will rebound strong in 2009. Scott Olsen was a great pickup. Lannan will mature....Hell, the whole staff/team will mature! Zimmerman...The Pitcher...may surprise! Look for Hernandez and Flores to add greatly to Zim, Guzie and Dunn. Wily Mo is healthy...PLEASE GOD! and Lastings Milledge and Elijah Dukes will...

The Church of Sporadic Offense

Given that the Mets will more than likely go into the 2009 season presenting mostly the same offensive starters that they did in 2008, Ryan Church, and the health and performance of Ryan Church becomes an increasingly more important issue for the Mets.

Nationals Briefing: Perez Holding Out

Ok, this is just down right ridiculous. P Odalis Perez is holding out of mandatory reporting for pitcher and catchers because he is unhappy with his contract. Seriously. And according to report, he may not show up anytime soon. Seriously.

Fans at Fault For Steroids in Major League Baseball? Really?

The Baltimore Sun’s David Steele is blaming YOU for steroids in Major League Baseball. Yep, if you’ve paid for a ticket to a game, you have contributed to the rampant juicing that the media has stirred to be one of the greatest shames in American history. Last year, fans were so enraged by the betrayals, so [...]
