Thunder Matt's Saloon:
This years dismal f&ck-up of a season is almost over with. Gone is the Monopoly Man and his tirades, farewell to postseason hopes and goodbye to one more year of mediocrity that has plagued the Cubs for far too long..."I know I'm an asshole, kick me out please."But looking on the bright side of things (because I am the eternal optimist despite that first paragraph) at least we aren't Pittsburgh Pirates Fans.Last nights whipping put the Bucs in their place, not to mention the fact that it was also the Cubs that secured their 17th consecutive losing season several weeks ago... Today brings a double header where *hopefully* the Cubbies will win both games under the lead of Lilly and Big Z. While I'm not banking on a sweep, it would certainly be nice especially because baseball outside of September will be sad for all of Cubdom yet again.Looks like those "fancy" new jerseys with them newfangled sleeves didn't workso well after all.If the MLB were H...

Milton Bradley Gone too, According to Piniella
A day after basically admitting that the Cubs aren’t going to retain Rich Harden, Lou Piniella also indicated – again without saying anything definitive – that Milton Bradley has played his last game for the North Siders.
“Our general manager Jim Hendry had to do a tough task of sending [Milton] home [on Sept. 20], and [...]
Power Rankings: Bradley's absence is addition by subtraction
Who knew? Milton Bradley isn't in the lineup and the Cubs have a great week. It seems everyone except Chicago proclaims Bradley's presence as toxic. Sigh, some people don't learn, Larry Dobrow says.
MILTON BRADLEY COULD BRING BAD ATTITUDE TO KC
I couldn’t actually believe this when I read it. The Chicago Tribune reports that troubled outfielder Milton Bradley could end up in Kansas City. Apparently, Royals upper management considers Bradley “a talented hitter that could thrive in a low-key environment.”
Hey, they might be right. But [...]
Pinella says Cubs will try to replace Bradley
During an interview with the "Waddle & Silvy" show on ESPN 1000 in Chicago, manager Lou Pinella hinted that Milton Bradley has played his last game with the Cubs.
Piniella Hints That Bradley's A Goner
Cubs manager Lou Piniella hinted on ESPN Radio today that Milton Bradley will not play another game for the Cubs (via ESPN Chicago). The talented outfielder has two years and $21MM remaining on his contract, but Piniella suggested Bradley will spend those two seasons elsewhere."Now we try to find somebody else," Piniella said. "I know Jim [Hendry, the team GM] will...
Rangers Aren't Interested In Bradley
The Rangers aren't interested in bringing Milton Bradley back to Texas, according to MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan. Sources make it clear to Sullivan that the club won't look to re-acquire the now-available outfielder. A week ago, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that the Rangers feel Bradley became selfish at the end of last season.Bradley, who led the...
Piniella Says Bradley Is Done With The Cubs
As if it wasn't a forgone conclusion already, Lou Piniella seemed to close the door on any possibility of Milton Bradley returning to the Cubs next year. On ESPN 1000's "Waddle and Silvy" show today, Piniella talked about next year's team...Read the full article on Bleacher Report...

Dempster tosses shutout in 6-0 Cubs victory
Right-hander gives up only 5 hits to Pittsburgh Pirates
The atmosphere in the Cubs clubhouse has changed drastically since Milton Bradley's suspension, as manager Lou Piniella noted before Tuesday night's 6-0 victory over Pittsburgh.
Cubs 101 - Pt. 71 - The Chicago Outfield Free Agent Bonanza
In the grand history of the Cubs, Chicago has only gone out, pursued, and snatched perhaps half a dozen star free agent outfielders from the clutches of the free agent market. Ever. (Maybe there's a reason this team is 100+ years dry of a World Championship.) Of the handful of star outfielders signed to patrol the green fields of Wrigley -- Andre Dawson, George...
Nothing short of an inspiration
Milton Bradley got the most attention. Randy Wells opened the most eyes. Carlos Zambrano confounded and at times entertained the most. And Derrek Lee produced the most on the field every day.
Would the Rays-Mets flip bad contracts ?
I certainly hope the Mets wouldn't entertain the idea of flipping Oliver Perez for Pat Burrell, at least with Milton Bradley he has the numbers ( still don't want him either) but Burrell reported to the Rays out of shape and ineffective, to go along with his regularly bad defense.Burrell played in 117 games where he hit .225 with 14 HRs, 15 doubles and 62 RBIs. He's owed...
Upside -- and downside
The Cubs' $140 million belly-flop of a season had no shortage of guys taking blame (along with one particular outfielder assigning plenty of it), from the big-money left fielder who spiraled to career lows in hitting and power production to the general manager whose $30 million whiff on Milton Bradley might have been the only swing uglier than an Alfonso Soriano hack at an 0-2 slider away.
