I live in one of the rare New England households with positive feelings for Julio Lugo. When we first got him, he announced he was “bananas” about signing with the Sox. This endeared him to my wife. Me, I’m a regular enough drinker of the Red Sox kool-aid that if they sign a guy, I try to like him. I never much cared for David Wells or J.D. Drew or Byung-Hyun Kim before they landed on the Sox, but I found a way to cheer for them. (Well, not Kim.) I was nervous we’d get the Lugo who stank with the Dodgers instead of the one who flourished with the Rays, but I was generally disposed to like the guy.
