Mondesi's House:
Fresh off a sweep at the hands of the Milwaukee Brewhas (also known as the Pirates' Daddy) on Sunday, the Pirates made a small move, signing pitcher Jorge Julio to a minor-league deal. The Buccos will be Julio's 10th organization since 2005. He's also suited up for the Orioles, Mets, D-Backs, Marlins, Rockies, Indians, Braves, Brewers, and most recently, the Rays' minor league Durham affiliate. Sounds like a keeper. The 30-year-old, 6'1" Julio probably peaked in 2003 while saving 36 games for the Orioles. His most recent action in the bigs was with Milwaukee earlier this season, where he was 1-1 with a 7.79 ERA in 17 1/3 innings. He was 6th in the NL in wild pitches in 2006, so there's always the chance of some excitement when he takes the hill. Unfortunately, he'll report to Indianapolis and not Pittsburgh, so we have to temper our Jorge Julio Fever until a later date.As for the 53-75 Buccos, they resume play on Monday with a doubleheader against Cincinnati.Email: Mondesishouse@gmai...

How the Hell Did No One Block the Kazmir Deal?
On friday night I turned on ESPN and saw "Angels Negotiating with Rays to acquire Scott Kazmir". In a baseball world where little more will shock me, my jaw went to the floor. How the hell did Scott Kazmir go through waivers all the way to the Angels? This makes absolutely positively no sense to me. First off, why the hell are the Rays trading away Scott Kazmir right now? I understand...

Were The Red Sox in On Scott Kazmir?
As many of you know, the Tampa Bay Rays have traded their ace of four years to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for minor leaguers Matt Sweeney, Alex Torres, and a player to be named later.
Kazmir has been one of the best pitchers in the league since he took over full time in Tampa Bay's rotation. Until 2008, Kazmir was pretty much the lone bright spot on the Devil Rays (then the...
