The Pirates are reportedly closing in on a two year deal worth four million dollars with Ramon Vazquez. Vazquez hit .290 with 6 HR in 145 games last season, and will probably find time at third, short, second, and first. He could potentially start if the Pirates are able to move Wilson or Sanchez.

Ronny Paulino was acquired from Pittsburgh today for Jason Jaramillo. From a Phillies news release: Paulino, 27, split last season between Pittsburgh, Triple-A Indianapolis and the Gulf Coast League Pirates. In 40 games (27 starts) for Pittsburgh last season, he hit .212/.277/.305 (57 OPS+) with two home runs and 18 RBIs. He threw out 26 percent (8 of 31) of potential basestealers...
