Do any of the Pirates on the trading block really want to leave Pittsburgh? If they want to stick around it shows in their performance. Matt Capps. Another rough outing. Freddy just walk up to the plate without a bat and see how it works. Paul Maholm, Ian Snell, the [...]

Ian Snell Rumors Resurface
Again, we're hearing rumors that Ian Snell could be headed to the Yankees. The latest is that the Yanks have scouts watching him pitch for the Pirates AAA team today.Snell isn't going to be the Yankees savior but he's shut down AAA hitters, has experience in the bullpen and rotation, and has a fairly dramatic ERA/FIP split. Sort of a meh move if it does happen. I hope...
Blanked again
There isn’t much to say about this one. Virgil Vasquez started and was pretty awful (4 runs in 3 innings). The relief efforts of Jeff Karstens (3 runs in 3.2 innings) and Matt Capps (2 runs in 1 inning) didn’t help, either.
Arizona’s hard-throwing Max Scherzer mowed down the offense, and the Bucs were shut out [...]
Yankees Scouting Ian Snell
According to Jenifer Langosch at MLB.com, the Yankees have scouts in attendance to watch Ian Snell throw today at Triple-A Indianapolis. The Yankees are known to be looking for a replacement for Chien-Ming Wang, and Snell has absolutely dominated since asking to be demoted to Indianapolis to straighten himself out. Snell has allowed just two earned runs through 32.1 innings, while...
Bucs' Snell continues to dazzle in Indy
Ian Snell, who has indicated he does not want to return to the Pirates, has a 0.96 ERA and 51 strikeouts in six starts for Indy.
Is Ian Snell Another Possibility for the New York Yankees?
Guess what, the Yankees are yet again mentioned in another possible rumor for a starting pitcher.
This time, it's Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Ian Snell.
Because the Pirates aren't a premium team that gets virtually no attention, nobody knows a lot about Snell.
Snell is currently 27-years old and has pitched his entire career with Pittsburgh since being called up back...

The worst case scenario
A team that hasn't scored since Friday doesn't need to face Tim Lincecum. Too bad for the Pirates that they don't really get a say in the matter. Paul Maholm and Lincecum kick off a three-game set in San Fran at 10:15 tonight. Freddy Sanchez is scratched, but because of his gimpy knee and not for more nefarious reasons. As far as we know.
Game 99: Giants 4 Pirates 2
On the bright side, at least the scored some runs tonight.
On the less-than-bright side, the Pirates lost (again), they played some ridiculously horrendous defense, the Giants' scorekeeper is a huge homer and didn't score any of the Pirates' terrible defense as errors which cost Paul Maholm in the ERA column tonight, the umps missed the call on the most ridiculous play...

No, I've not met my untimely demise, so sorry to those e-mailers who seem to keep wishing it. You know who you are. No, I'm sitting in a hotel room in Toronto, a few days into my summer tour around baseball.
I'm actually in the middle of a...

The Padres designated catcher Jose Lobaton for assignment, according to MLB.com's Corey Brock. The 24-year-old was 3 for 17 without any walks or extra base hits in limited playing time.
