Albert Pujols, the Astro Killer, was at it again last night. This time taking the Dan Wheeler deep in extra innings. That makes back to back outings in which Wheeler has faced the Cardinals and given up three earned runs. He shouldn't be in any danger of losing his job, but as Astros Dugout indicates, right or wrong, you can already sense the Brad Lidge whispers coming. I really don't see that happening unless it's strictly to showcase him for another team and a future trade. Since Lidge is a free agent at the end of the year and Houston is struggling, it's a legitimate concern for Wheeler fantasy owners.

Rocket Stalls

Some observers raised their collective eyebrows last week when Clemens threw just 89 pitches in his final tune-up start at AAA-Scranton after throwing 102 in his prior start for AA-Trenton. In particular ESPN's John Kruk didn't feel that Clemens appeared to be pushing off the mound with much strength in his legs. The media in New York were far less concerned, proclaiming...

The Rockets Launch Delayed

Regardless of where you fall in terms of support for Clemens, you have to see this as a major setback for him. Questions are just going to keep rising about the worth of this entire deal. It will be interesting to see him produce on Saturday

Yankees could exit Clemens deal but won't

Cashman was asked the question but gave this answer: "It's not something I'm thinking about right now."

Great Escapes: Clemens & A-Rod

As A-Rod helped the Yankees escape Boston with a series win, GM Brian Cashman claimed he wasn't thinking about an apparent escape clause in the deal he made with Roger Clemens:

Ryan Howard for MVP

I can't believe that some people are dismissing Ryan Howard for the 2008 Most Valuable Player Award. I can't think of anyone more deserving. Albert Pujols is an incredible hitter, no doubt about it. But the Cardinals are a .500 team and will not make the playoffs. Manny Ramirez and CC Sabathia have had very productive half-seasons with the Dodgers and Brewers, respectively...

Brad Lidge Is Done. But You Knew That.

On October 17, 2005, Brad Lidge's career officially went into the toilet. On that night, Lidge came in with a two run lead in game five of the NLCS. He then gave up one of the most memorable homers in recent memory, a towering shot by Albert Pujols that won the game for the Cardinals. The trauma he suffered that night finally came full circle, as Lidge was demoted from his position...

Last of the Killer B's Finally Hang's it up ? Craig Biggio Houston Astro Legend

I usually don't write baseball articles, as I pretty much ceased being a fan shortly after the 1981 strike. Since that time I have attended at total of 4 games in Houston and 2 of those were to bring my sons so that they would at least have the chance to experience a Major League game. In fact I very rarely even watch a game on TV or spend much time on the sports highlights as...

DL Trip Likely for Pujols

The biggest news coming out of Tuesday was an injury to Albert Pujols. The Cardinals slugger suffered a strained calf, and will likely require a stint on the disabled list. There are precious few quality replacements available, but there are still a few decent options fantasy owners can turn to. Several other players returned to their teams like Matt Holliday and Moises Alou, a catching...
