Found April 23, 2007 on Mickey Tettleton Memorial:
was fortunate enough to attend this afternoon's Tigers game against the Blue Jays with my friends Matt and Bill. I would give a more detailed account of the game but I don't remember much because it was freezing. Freezing is actually an understatement. Today's game made the Ice Planet of Hoth look like a sunny summer resort planet, only instead of AT-AT's lumbering around it was Frank Thomas and Troy Glaus and instead of snow and sleet blowing around and stinging your face it was mostly hot dog wrappers and used syringe needles. I was about five seconds away from climbing over the railing and cutting open Gene Lamont's stomach to sleep........for warmth of course, (shifting eyes). Anyways here is what I remember regarding today's game:

Frank Thomas Re-Signs with the A's, How Do You Like Me Now?

The Oakland Athletics announced their decision to bring back DH Frank Thomas for $337,000, or the prorated portion of the league minimum after the Toronto Blue Jays made the decision to release Thomas when the slugger complained publicly of the Jays' decision to cut back his playing time. The Blue J...

The Big Hurt Will No Longer Need His Passport

The Blue Jays and slugger DH Frank Thomas have parted ways, a decision that came one day after Thomas balked at a reduced role with the Jays. (Hold me, Barry. Hold me, Frank.) Thomas was released Sunday by the Blue Jays, just a year after hitting 26 home runs and knocking in 95 runs for Toronto. The...

Fantasy Hurler

-- Well, I put my money where my mouth is. I traded Matt Capps in my "big money" league for C.C. Sabathia and Frank Thomas (who I will probably cut). C.C.'s velocity is there. If this is a result of his being overworked last year, I've given up a valuable sleeper closer for a guy who may take a beati...

Ears Open, Eyeballs Click...

In about 15 day's the Baseball world may be turned upside down as we know it. Let this be the one-trillionth story or comment on baseballs endless nightmare. Steroids are in Baseball, NO SECRET! But how much has it effected the sport so far and more importantly how much has it effected the everyday fan. Well I think were all about to see how much it will. Up to this point...

Gray Skies

That had to happen. With the Nation leaning on him to lift our spirits, I knew in the back of my mind that Beckett was due for a bad start. Back-to-back meatballs served over the plate to Vernon Wells and Troy Glaus proved to be just the appetizer for Blue Jay fans (all 26 of them who weren't busy sc...

Disappointing Rolen finally hits one out; Jays beat Cubs

But how about that Rolen-for-Troy Glaus swap now? I don't care what anyone says; despite the fact Rolen had been hitting .300 for much of the season before seeing it dip under in the last couple days, the Jays' new third sacker and No. 3 hitter has been a bust. Say what you want about his defense, but this ballclub needs someone who can hit the long balls and drive...

Big Hurt Goin' Back To Cali

The Mariners must not have been keen on signing Frank Thomas to help infuse some power into an anemic offense. Further, Jason Giambi will not be threatened by another aging DH, as Thomas is a<a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ti-...

No Thomas, Bonds For Royals

On Monday, Bradford Doolittle suggested that Frank Thomas or Barry Bonds might make sense for the Royals if they move Billy Butler to first...

Phlashback Phriday - The Bull

Usually our Phlashback Phriday subjects are not well known - Willie Jones, Jerry Martin, Todd Frowirth, etc. But today I thought I would mix it up and offer a Phillies great for reminiscence.I never saw The Bull play. He made his mark in Philadelphia before I was born and I've only ever seen him behind the counter at his bar-b-q joint at The Cit. So, I don't have any personal stories...
