Fox Sports:
Red Sox right-hander Josh Beckett says he feels a lot better after getting scratched Monday night because of back spasms.
Beckett said Tuesday that he's ready to pitch. His next start is scheduled for Saturday.
Beckett is 16-6 and has already pitched a career-high with 207 1-3 innings.
Boston began the night with a magic number of one over Texas for the AL wild card. They can win it with a victory over Toronto or a Rangers loss to the Angels.

The Literary Adventures of Josh Beckett: F. Scott Fitzgerald's Unlikeliest Muse
After last night’s ass-whooping at the hands of the mighty Blue Jays, I’ve decided to abstain from posting until the Sox officially clinch the Wild Card. So today, we’re handing the reins over to guest poster Randy “Pete” Fitzgerald, nephew of the celebrated author F. Scott Fitzgerald, who has a startling revelation that I think you’ll all enjoy.Take it away, Randy.*...
Beckett Sits For Precautionary Reasons With A Stiff Back
For about a month now, since Josh Beckett was in the midst of his dead-arm period, I have been advocating a course of action in which the Red Sox would skip Josh Beckett one time through the rotation - arguing that he would be able to rest his right arm and build some extra stamina [...]
Tie Clinched
The LA Angels did the heavy lifting for the Red Sox last night, whacking the Texas Rangers 11-0, to win the AL West title and giving the Red Sox a tie for the AL Wild Card. It was a rare night I was pulling for the Halos, and something I sure as hell won't be doing next week.Josh Beckett couldn't go last night, as an upper back spasm forced Terry Francona to pull him earlier in the...
Beckett scratched because of back spasms
Boston Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett has been scratched from Monday night's start because of back spasms.
The team did not say when Beckett is expected to pitch again. Michael Bowden will start in his place against Toronto.

Beckett Back Scratched
Josh Beckett won’t make his start tonight due to back spasms. The Sox usually give Beckett some time off during the year with a minor injury, and they haven’t done so this season. They have, at times, given him an extra day off. This seems like a move to keep him fresh [...]

Beckett’s outlook appears optimistic
Even with the memory of last season’s injury-marred playoffs, and after having woken up with back spasms before his scheduled start Monday, Josh Beckett yesterday said he anticipated no further issues with his back. He appeared optimistic about his chances to pitch during the rest of the regular season, and the postseason.
Beckett out, Red Sox miss chance to clinch WC
BOSTON(AP) The Toronto Blue Jays took advantage after Josh Beckett was scratched from his scheduled start, scoring seven runs off substitute Michael Bowden to beat the Boston Red Sox 11-5 Monday night in a game that was called in the seventh inning because of rain.
REMEMBER THE MAGIC NUMBER IS ONE
Last night as I was perusing my Facebook feed I noticed a disproportionate number of my Red Sox fans complaining about the Red Sox game last night. In case you were like most of us and skipped it, you missed Josh Beckett missing a start and saw instead the craptastically ineffective performance of one Michael Bowden. The Blue Jays spanked the Sox all over the place, but please remember, the Wild
Amid this messy ending, there are things to tidy up
The last five days of the 2009 season. Who cares? Josh Beckett cares, because he’ll pitch Saturday to show his bosses that his sore back won’t be a problem in the playoffs.
Spot Start
Michael Bowden starts in place of Josh Beckett against the Blue Jays, and gives up four runs in the first inning. Aaron Hill continues his amazing power season with his 35th home run, and Wells and Overbay doubled. An early evening Red Sox loss would give the Texas Rangers an even bigger reason [...]
