Jose Reyes is out of the line-up for tonight's opener against the San Francisco Giants.Reyes isn't being benched for his base running blunders, lack of hustle or poor fielding. The All-Star short stop and gold glove caliber fielder, had a really bad series against the Braves, in all aspects of his game, including public relations with the media. It's being reported that Reyes injured his calf and is now listed as day-to-day. For a team that just lost it's set-up man and clean-up hitter, the last thing they need is to lose Reyes even for one night. "It got a little worse during the game, and it's not feeling good right now," Reyes said this afternoon. "I don't even know how I did it."source NY Post

POSTGAME: Mets 7, Giants 4

The New York Mets (19-15) toppled the San Francisco Giants (18-16) last night in the first game of a four game series at AT&T Park. Bobby Parnell (2-0, 2.20), although he is credited with a blown save, also notched his second major league win as the Mets rallied late to beat the Giants.Mets PitchingJohn Maine: 6.2 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 4 KBrian Stokes (H, 1): 0.1 IP, 0 HBobby...

ESPN just toying with the male population of San Francisco

David Wright playing for the San Francisco Giants would be a worse scene than Val Venis taking off his towel in Adorable Adrian Adonis' Flower Shop. Impressively, the gaffe is still there.

The Giants X-Factor….

Is none other than 3rd-Baseman Pablo Sandoval (A pretty nice segway from the last post right?) Here are some of the things we know about this years San Francisco Giants; Will potentially have AMAZING pitching and solid (but very unspectacular) hitting from guys like Aaron Rowand, Randy Winn, Bengie Molina, Fred Lewis and Edgar Renteria. These [...]

Zimmerman Hit Streak Ends at Thirty

(by Mark Hornbaker) Yesterday at AT&T Park 24 year-old Ryan Zimmerman hit streak came to an end at 30 games, as the Nationals beat the San Francisco Giants 6-3. During the game Zimmerman did get on base three times, two time by being walked and in the 9th inning when he hit into a fielders choice. Officially Zimmermanwent 0 for 3 and scored one run. After yesterday's game...

My Mind Has Just Been Blown

Bottom of the first, Mets vs. Braves. Jose Reyes, whom I call Jo-Jo is up to bat. Pitching? Jo-Jo Reyes. Jo-Jo Reyes vs. Jo-Jo Reyes. Update: Jo-Jo Reyes the hitter won the first mirror match with a double to left.

A Series By The Bay

This weekend, the Mets fly to the other coast to take on the San Francisco Giants in a four game series by the bay. The Mets and Giants have the exact same record of 18-15 coming into this series.  The Giants have been winning of late, taking six of their last ten games. At home, [...]

Roto Aces: Is Barry Zito legit?

Roto Aces takes a detailed look at Barry Zito's hot start, and compares his numbers to his Oakland days, and his 07/08 numbers with the Giants to determine if the one time Cy Young winning pitcher is back to his old form.

Liveblog at Walkoff Walk With Sooze!

So, if you're not doing anything at 3:45pm ET today, come join in the fun over at Walkoff Walk, where I'll be live-blogging the Washington Nationals @ the San Francisco Giants. I'll give you one guess why. Weeeeeeeeeee!

Giants News & Updates - March 26th

Catch the Giants - Cubs Game Today CSN-Bay Area and MLB.TV will be showing the Spring Training matchup between the Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants. The game will commence at 10:35PM Eastern Time. Barry Zito (yeah I know, we all wish it was Lincecum or Randy Johnson) is scheduled to make the start tonight against [...]

Giants: Lincecum allows 10 hits

SAN FRANCISCO – Gary Sheffield scored the go-ahead run on closer Brian Wilson's throwing error in the ninth inning, and the New York Mets rallied from an early four-run deficit for an 8-6 victory over the Giants on Friday night. David Wright of the Mets had three hits and four RBIs, three on a tying double in the seventh inning of New York's 10th victory in 12 games...

Giants stumble against Nationals

Giants starter Barry Zito gave up eight hits and four runs while pitching into the seventh.

Zimmerman’s streak ends at 30 games

Ryan Zimmerman, the best thing to ever happen to the Washington Nationals, has ended his hitting streak at 30 games. He tried to continue it earlier today against Barry Zito and the San Francisco Giants, but it just wasn’t in the cards. Zito, who’s surprisingly been pitching like a major-leaguer, still gave up 8 hits. [...]

Mr Mets Daily - All good things must come to an end....

The Mets winning streak ended the other night, sadly. Now, the Mets have lost a series. The Mets lost this afternoon at Citi Field to the Atlanta Braves by the score of 8-7 in twelve innings. It happens. The Mets had several highlights during the game, but, bottom line, they lost the series winning just one of three. There were several things to be happy about, not the least of...

Morning Digest: The Versus Edition

The theme of this morning’s thoughts is versus. Enjoy! Good vs. Great I think Mets fans are confused by this one recently. Yesterday was another example of why, although I love David Wright and Jose Reyes, you have to wonder if they are truly great players. Reyes made not one, but two, base running blunders. You would [...]

Professor Harper and Sherman On Greatness

I keep getting criticized for hating on David Wright and Jose Reyes. They are not the only two players in this town that have yet to reach the highest level of performance like Johan Santana, Derek Jeter, and Mariano Rivera. Robinson Cano falls in that group as well. Perhaps the following quotes from today’s Joel [...]
