The Rangers have purchased the contract of infielder Esteban German, the lone All-Star for Triple A Oklahoma City this season, and optioned Joaquin Arias back to the RedHawks. To make room for German on the 40-man roster, right-hander John Bannister has been designated for assignment.

Another tough start for the Rangers in Oakland.
Vicente Padilla had a rough first inning, giving up two runs, two hits, including a two-run homer to Scott Hairston, and hitting a batter. Rangers got a run back in the top of the second as Josh Hamilton doubled and scored on a single to left by Taylor Teagarden, who's Saltalamacchia a night off behind the plate.

The Rangers avoided four-game sweep to Oakland but had to sweat out a nervous ninth inning in a 6-4 win. C.J. Wilson allowed a two-out run, and the tying run was on first base when Mark Ellis flew out to end the game. Wilson got his 14th save, and Tommy Hunter was impressive yet again and improved to 4-2.

The Rangers and A's are underway in Oakland, though you'd never know it by the crowd. Very quiet, like they're at an art gallery instead of a ballpark.
No score in bottom of second. Rangers' Dustin Nippert worked out of a little jam in the bottom of the first.
