With starting center fielder Dewayne Wise out for the next 6-8 weeks, the White Sox are turning back the clock by signing old friend Scott Podsednik to a minor league deal.ESPN.com:Scott Podsednik rejoined the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday, agreeing to a minor league contract one day after center fielder Dewayne Wise separated a shoulder.Podsednik played for Chicago from 2005-07 and hit .253 for the Colorado Rockies last year. He became a free agent after the season, agreed to a minor league contract with the Rockies and then was released April 1.The White Sox (namely Ozzie Guillen) don't seem to have much faith in Brian Anderson or Jerry Owens as a starting outfielder, so it would not surprise me to see Podsednik eventually get lots of playing time. Then again, Podsednik has not put up good numbers since 2006 so I'm not sure Podsednik is that much better of an option at this point. Then again, this is a no risk, mild reward situation here for the White Sox if Podsednik plays well.Whi...

Dewayne Wise Seperates Shoulder

The battle for the White Sox starting centefield job this spring wasn't exactly epic, but when the dust had finally settled, it was minor-league journeyman Dewayne Wise who had emerged victorious against Brian Anderson and Jerry Owens. The White Sox Sign Scott Podsednik To Minor League Deal

With Dewayne Wise now on the disabled list thanks to a trial separation between his arm and torso the White Sox have been forced to call up Jerry Owens from Charlotte to fill his spot on the roster. Though Owens will be on the bench this afternoon as Brian Anderson gets the start in centerfield.Still, it seems the prospect of having Jerry Owens on the roster really hit home with Kenny Williams

White Sox Sign Podsednik

The White Sox have agreed to terms with free agent outfielder Scott Podsednik, FoxSports.com's Ken Rosenthal is reporting. The spot opened up when DeWayne Wise separated his shoulder in Monday's game. The Sox called up Jerry Owens for the time being but plan to give Podsednik a shot. Podsednik has 236 career stolen bases, and played a key role in the White Sox 2005 World...

BDD: That’s Odd

At Baseball Daily Digest, I paw through the pitching performances of position players since 1980. Arguably the worst performance is attributed to Frank Menechino with the Oakland Athletics. In a game that the A’s would lose 18-3 to the Colorado Rockies, Frank came in the bottom of the eighth inning, replacing T.J. Matthews who had allowed [...]

The Goat Isn’t Cursed… You Might Be

Monday’s opener at the “friendly confines” of Wrigley Field had all the elements you’ve come to expect. Rainy, drizzly, windy, and hazy throughout, with gametime temperatures at a very comfortable 36 degrees. Does it get any better? Cubs fans singing that silly little song again. Ted Lilly put them in the mood by no-hitting a whiny, cranky Colorado Rockies lineup for...
