Miguel Batista, in the photo above, accepts congratulations after fanning Gregg Zaun to end today's contest. This game went a lot easier than it looked like it might after the first couple of innings. But the Mariners got their bats going against Scott Kazmir and Ryan Rowland-Smith eventually settled down. The result was a rather simole 11-2 trouncing of the visitors. That gives the Mariners back-to-back series wins and a 4-2 record since that debacle in Texas last weekend. They beat a pretty good Rays team here, too. The Mariners continue to play competitive baseball. Rowland-Smith going 6 2/3 innings here today helps the bullpen a lot as well., This has to become more comonplace by guys other than Felix Hernnadez.

Rays Make Two Moves and Another Up The Standings

The Rays, who much to my chagrin made 0 moves at the MLB trading non-waiver trading deadline two weeks ago, have made two moves to shore up two of our three weakest areas on the team.  They have added Russ Springer and Gregg Zaun to augment the bullpen and catching defenisve respectively. Joe Dillon and Michel [...]

Gregg Zaun To Tampa—Not A Bad Thing

The Orioles traded Gregg Zaun to the Tampa Bay Rays Friday, not a bad move at all. Let’s take a step back and look at this. Zaun was the Opening Day starter and then, for the good of the team, he took a backseat to Matt Wieters when his contract was purchased in May. I like Zaun and thought he saved Baltimore a few runs with his ability to keep balls in the dirt in front of him...
