Yankees - Orioles@ Camden Yards(three games)After a nice weekend in the Bronx that saw the Yankees sweep three from the White Sox, the Yankees head out on a seven-game road trip starting with three games in Baltimore against the Orioles. At 54-77 the O's are on their way to another last place finish. While they do have some good young talent - Makakis, Jones, Wieters, Reimold - as a team they really don't do anything well. They're 8th in the AL in runs scored, 11th in home runs, and 9th in team OPS. On the pitching side they rank 13th in the AL in ERA, last in strikeouts, and they've allowed the most runs in the league as a staff. Now, they will play harder than the White Sox did, but the Yanks should still take at least two of three - I'm hoping for a sweep, especially with the Yankees big three going.Besides that little bump in the road agaisnt the Rangers the Yankees keep on rolling. They're a season-high 34 games over .500, and at 82-48 have the best record...

Yankee Walkoff Wins From 1961 - 2009 Part 1

As anyone who's followed the 2009 Yankees is well aware, they've had a proclivity for walkoff wins, which just means home games that are won in their last AB in the bottom of either the ninth inning or in extra innings. Robinson Cano's three-run home run in the bottom of the tenth on Friday gave the Yankees their twelfth walkoff win in 2009. I was curious about...

Baltimore's Jones leaves game with injury

Baltimore Orioles center fielder Adam Jones left Tuesday's game against the New York Yankees with an apparent lower body injury.

Robinson Cano Really Only Has Two Problems

I have written articles on Cano on this site before and I love Robinson Cano. But he has two major problems. First, he is too good for his own good. What I mean by that is that he is so quick, has such great range and such physical skills that he makes the game look easier than it really is. For that reason he always looks as though he isn't making the full effort. And not many...

Yanks hit 5 home runs, win 9-6

Jorge Posada hit two home runs and drove in three runs in the Yankees’ 9-6 victory over Baltimore Tuesday night.  Robinson Cano, Eric Hinske and Nick Swisher joined in on the home run fun as well. A.J. Burnett did not fare as well, allowing six runs and 11 hits in 5 1/3 innings.  He allowed a two-run home run to Felix Pie and a three-run home run Luke Scott. ...

Yankees go Bird-bashing in Baltimore

The Bombers belted five home runs in a 9-6 win over the Orioles, bashing their way to a fifth straight victory. Jorge Posada went deep twice, while Nick Swisher, Eric Hinske and Robinson Cano also homered.

The Art of the Perfect Game (Or, How to Get Really, Really Lucky)

"It was a million-to-one shot, Doc."-Frank Costanza The Yankees won an unremarkable game this evening. The opener of a relatively meaningless series in Camden Yards against an Orioles team that got buried back in May. Nick Swisher got three hits. Robinson Cano doubled twice. And Andy Pettitte retired the first twenty hitters he faced before fate, and the law of large numbers...
