Now that the Twins have been officially eliminated in 2009, it's time to turn their focus to the 2010 season. What should the Twins do? Patrick Reusse has a suggestion:"2. Probably not. However, we have to remember that the Twins will be moving into Target Field next season, which they hope will increase revenue. There has even been talk that the Twins will increase their payroll significantly:"The team payroll could jump to between $90 million and $100 million in 2010 from $65.2 million on opening day this ye...

Misplaced Ire: Nick Punto

Nick Punto has been called the (or chief) goat of the Twins ALDS loss to the Yankees. Fangraphs had a post saying Punto didn’t do the little things all that well. Twins fans notoriously chide Ron Gardenhire for his insistence on playing Nick Punto every night, citing him as a big reason for the team’s [...]

The Bitter End.

Viewers of the ALDS Game 3 watching from home were subjected to a bombardment of ads for the new TNT show Men of a Certain Age.  The comedy’s premise involves men in their forties coping with the realities (ear hair? Viagra? “going” problems?) of middle age.  Undoubtedly, this title could apply to Mariano Rivera as well.  Rivera, who...

NY Times: Twins Cite Yankees’ Coolness in Sweep

“Every time we put up a run or two or we scored, they don’t panic,” outfielder Denard Span said. “They seemed like they just took a deep breath. It’s almost like they relaxed even more and answered back. They always answer back.” Span recalled how when he was 12, he watched in awe as a 22-year-old Derek Jeter helped the Yankees win the 1996 World Series. Thirteen...
