Mop Up Duty:
It was back in 2006. One of the first ever articles on Mopupduty.com was a prospect bio on Travis Snider. In the comments section myself and others were going back and forth on Snider’s defensive ceiling. I said the following
I think he has no chance in playing RF in the majors. I’m surprised that they [...]

Blue Jays Baserunning… Not So Bad, Actually
Last night I got to see Vernon Wells picked off (allegedly) first base and then thrown out of the game for arguing his case. Due to the sheer number of flubs, misplays and screw-ups this season I didn’t think anything of it. In fact I expected to see it. But then I thought for a [...]

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Jesse Carlson has been suspended three games, and other penalties were expected the day after a bench-clearing brawl at Yankee Stadium.
Toronto manager Cito Gaston said Carlson was suspended and fined $3,000 Wednesday by Major League Baseball. Gaston also said Blue Jays catcher Rod Barajas was fined $1,000.

Yankees, Blue Jays brawl
Just like a good wreck in NASCAR, it’s hard not to appreciate two clubs emptying the benches in a blowout baseball game.
Here’s what went down between the Yankees and Blue Jays at the new Yankee Stadium last night (via ESPN.com):
Toronto’s Edwin Encarnacion and All-Star second baseman Aaron Hill were hit by pitches before Carlson threw [...]
Arguing for Halladay
Batter’s box notes that Roy Halladay faced the toughest competition of any Cy Young contender. I remember seeing this same argument in favor of Roy over Cliff Lee last season, as Lee got to beat up on weak AL Central teams like Detroit and the Royals.
Joe Posnanski recently posted about how the fact that [...]
Touch ‘Em All: FIGHT! Finally, Something Interesting.
Blue Jays 10 – Yankees 4: Well, something interesting finally happened in baseball so we’re doing some recaps. A couple of Blue Jays got hit and Toronto pitcher Jesse Carlson retaliated by hitting Yankee catcher Jorge Posada. While Posada took his base, he eventually scored and there was a chicken wing move that Gorilla [...]
Blue Jays Bomb the Bronx Bombers
JERRY!! JERRY!! JERRY!! They Yankees and Blue Jays threw down twice in the 8th inning of Tuesday’s game in New York of a 10-4 Blue Jays win. Things started in the 6th when Jays’ batter Edwin Encarnacion was hit in the shoulder and earlier in the 8th when another Jays’ batter Aaron Hill was hit [...]

Is MLB running short at short?
Stalwart Bauxite AWeb posted this in another thread just a while ago:" ... even a declined Scutaro is one of the top 10-15 SS in the majors, unles his defense evaporates. Not exactly a great position in MLB right now."Maybe we were all spoiled by the Jeter/A-Rod/Nomar "trinity" a few years ago, following on the heels of a Larkin/Ripken era launch that really started us down the road...
Late rally pushes Yanks past Blue Jays in fight-free bout
Hideki Matsui hit a tying, two-run homer in the eighth inning off Scott Downs, Francisco Cervelli hit a winning single in the ninth and New York beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 Wednesday night.
No brawls; NY Yankees rally for another late-inning win, 5-4, over Toronto Blue Jays
William Perlman/The Star-LedgerNick Swisher dives, but can't make the catch on a blooper to right by Toronto's Marco Scutaro in the seventh. The Yankees won the game in the bottom of the ninth, 5-4. One batter got hit by a...
