Sox & Dawgs:
You are probably asking yourself, why is a Red Sox and UConn blog talking about Tennessee and Todd Helton. Most of us in the Connecticut area strongly dislike the Tennessee Volunteers due to Pat Summitt, the women's head basketball coach.
I came across Helton in the minor leagues in 1996 back when I was the clubhouse manager for the New Haven Ravens, who at the time were the Double-A affiliate for the Colorado Rockies. Helton, who pitched and played first base at Tennessee, was the 5th overall pick in the 2005 Baseball Entry draft by the Rockies, who sent him to the Asheville Tourists, where he hit .254 with 1 home run and 15 RBIs.
