My Favourite Tweets

My Favourite Tweets   It’s good to be back.  I have been in Europe for 3 weeks with little to no information pertaining to my beloved Blue Jays. So Halladay stays, Rolen is gone and my boy Randy Ruiz is up.  However, the boys in blue are scuffling dreadfully.  The little information I did receive was from [...]

White Sox Get Alex Rios

Alex Rios showed up at Yankee Stadium and saw his name on the Blue Jays starting lineup Monday night. He left the ballpark a few hours later, on his way to join the White Sox and a pennant race. The two-time All-Star was claimed off waivers by Chicago and learned the news about 30 minutes before the first pitch between the Blue Jays and New York Yankees. The White Sox assume his...

Slideshow: NY Yankees 7, Toronto Blue Jays 5

Noah K. Murray/The Star-LedgerToronto Blue Jays outfielder Joe Inglett reacts after a fan catches Jorga Posada's home run ball in the eight inning. Just as they did to complete the sweep against the Red Sox, the Yankees rallied late to...

Is Vernon Wells the least Valuable Every Day Player in Baseball?

It's safe to say that the Vernon Wells contract has turned into a millstone that will weigh the Jays down well into the next decade. However the situation would not be as dire if Vernon was still a solid, if unspectacular, major leaguer. However even that faint dream has become a nightmare, as Vernon has turned in an awful season so far. All of which begs the question - is Vernon...

Blue Jays (54-58) @ Yankees (70-43), Wednesday, August 12, 2009, 1:05pm **Game Chatter**

BOS: Ricky Romero (24, LHP, 10-5, 3.66 ERA, 4.34 FIP, 2.4 WAR) vs NYY: A.J. Burnett (37, LHP, 10-5, 3.67 ERA, 4.54 FIP, 2.9 WAR)

Girardi Takes Advantage of a Split

Joe Girardi posted an unusual lineup today against the lefty Ricky Romero. Left-handed batters get on base at the same clip as right-handed batters against Romero, but lefties hit for a higher batting average and more power. So Girardi gave Mark Teixeira the day off and batted Damon and Matsui 2-3 in the [...]

Toronto Blue Jays promote Randy Ruiz to replace Alex Rios in lineup

The Toronto Blue Jays have promoted infielder Randy Ruiz from Triple-A Las Vegas to fill Alex Rios' roster spot.

Jumping Joe Inglett

Sorry, I know this afternoon's matinee is already in progress (check out The Score liveblog by the way) but I just wanted to touch on a few things from last night's game.If Joe Inglett were just a few inches taller, maybe he could have brought Jorge Posoda's lazy fly ball down for an out. Instead it just barely cleared the right field wall for a home run. I love how Cito...

Alex Rios finally in White Sox lineup

Rios salary dump good for bottom line, not fans

In March of 2008 the Jays believed Rios was worth $69 million (all figures U.S.) on a well-thought-out contract extension. In August of 2009, they believe he is worth nothing.
