He worked a one-two-three first but had to strand two runners in the second and three in the third. His luck ran out in the fourth as the A's affiliate used a single, double, a ground out and a sacrifice fly to score a couple of runs. Purcey worked a one-hit fifth but got back into trouble in the sixth. An error by Kevin Howard at third, a single and a walk loaded the bases and Sacramento brought in all those runners with two singles and a sac fly to go up 5-0. Bubbie Buzachero was called upon to get the final out of the inning which he did via the strikeout. He pitched a shutout seventh despite giving up a double.
