It's just reported that the Boston Red Sox have reached a deal with Brad Penny on a 1 year $5 million contract. It is also reported that they have reached a deal with catcher Josh Bard which could mean the end for the days of Varitek in Boston. Penny would join a rotation which would be top notch with Beckett, Dice-K, Lester, Wakefield, and now Penny pending a physical.
