Let me preference this by saying, I've never been one of those guys that has clamoured for the return of Ty Wigginton, of the two deals that were made on that fateful day in 2004, the Wiggy deal was fair.In a true tribute to his popularity, since he left in 2004 there always seems to be Mets fans who want him back. But in this particular case Wigginton seems to be the perfect fit, to meet our needs. Wigginton is versatile enough to play multiple positions ( 1B, 2B, 3B, OF), he's slumping so he wouldn't cost much in exchange, he's a good clubhouse guy and is very close to Wright while having a solid, big game bat. Jason Stark believes he's slumping because of his role and that Wiggy could be a nice sleeper pick-up for a team that could give him more time on the field...Here's a way-below-the-radar name to file away for July: Ty Wigginton. He's been a mess in a part-time role in Baltimore (.221, one homer, .255 OBP, 331 SLG). And he has $3.5 million coming n...

Patton & Arrieta Heading to Norfolk

I’m told that pitchers Troy Patton and Jake Arrieta are, indeed, moving up to Triple-A Norfolk, where they’ll join elite prospect Chris Tillman in a beefed-up rotation. I guess there’s still room for someone else once the Orioles activate Koji Uehara, but it just got a lot more crowded down there. Roch: Much closer to confirmation Wow, I [...]

Orioles Snap Five Game Skid; The Draft

The Orioles snapped a five game losing streak as Brad Bergesen perhaps had his best start in the majors to date as he pitched eight shutout innings of five-hit ball and they beat the Seattle Mariners, 3-1 last night at Camden Yards.Baltimore's youngsters came through that night as Nolan Reimold had a solo home run in the fifth inning, and followed up with an RBI single in the...

Bergesen helps Orioles end skid

BALTIMORE | An unfavorable replay call wasn't enough to ruin a significant night in the Baltimore Orioles' youth movement. Brad Bergesen pitched eight innings of five-hit ball, Nolan Reimold homered and had two RBI and the Orioles beat the Seattle Mariners 3-1 on Tuesday to end a five-game losing streak. Soon after Baltimore drafted 18-year-old pitcher Matt Hobgood with the...

The Rockies have signed 31-year old righty starting pitcher Adam Eaton to a minor league deal. Eaton has pitched in 8 games (all starts) this season for the Orioles and he was 2-5 with a 8.56 ERA and a 1.83 WHIP. Before his release from Baltimore Eaton allowed 56 hits (9 of which [...]

Play it again: Braves 7, Orioles 2

THREE AND DONE Adam Jones' at-bat in the sixth inning crystallized the Orioles' recent offensive struggles. Trailing 4-2, the Orioles had finally knocked Braves rookie right-hander Tommy Hanson out of the game. They had the bases loaded and two outs and one of their best hitters at the plate. But Atlanta reliever Peter Moylan, who entered the game with a 5.09 ERA, needed just three...

Play it again: Mariners 4, Orioles 1

LOPEZ LAUNCHES A PAIR Orioles starter Jeremy Guthrie has been very vulnerable to the home run ball this season, coming into Wednesday's game having given up 14 in his first 67 1/3 innings of work. Obviously, Mariners second baseman Jose Lopez got the memo, as he hammered a pair of homers to account for much of the Seattle attack.

O's Stop Skid...Countdown 56

The Orioles managed to stop there there slide and get back on tracklast night despite the terrible weather and win 3-1 against Seattle.Though I'm going to have to say I'm not a fan of this instant replaything. I know its supposed to make the game better.

Seattle Mariners at Baltimore Orioles: 06/11/2009

You can all see from the photo above that tonight's game might not start on time. The rain has stopped now, but there are still showers in the area. Just below, you can see what it looked like 10 minutes ago. Anyhow, I was enjoying the discussion/debate on today's earlier post very much. Aside from the usual digs at mainstream media, I felt it was a lively discussion about...
