TEAMS: Cleveland Indians, Philadelphia Phillies
Looks like Ruben Amaro Jr. is ready to put his signature on this squad and help guide them back to the playoffs and hopefully back-to-back World Series. He worked his magic and landed 2008 AL Cy Young Cliff Lee and as an added bonus got a righthanded bat in the form of outfielder Ben Francisco. All of this was done without surrendering any players on the active 25-man roster or Kyle Drabek, Dominic Brown, or Michael Taylor. Lee and Francisco were brought aboard for a package of Carlos Carrasco, Jason Knapp, Jason Donald, and Lou Marson. Must say, I'm highly impressed.In:(2008 stats)Cliff Lee- 7-9, 22 gs, 152 ip, 107 k, 3.14 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 30 years old. $8M club option for 2010. Ben Francisco- .250/.758, 48 r, 21 dbl, 10 hr, 33 rbi, 13 sb, 27 years old. Under team control through 2012.Out: Carlos Carrasco- the much ballyhooed pitcher in the Phils organization for the past few seasons has taken a step back in his progression this season, stalling at Triple-A with a 6-9 r...

Lee unlisted among weekend pitching probables
The Phillies have released tonight's game notes and have updated the pitching probables on their Web site for the next four games: Rodrigo Lopez goes tonight, Joe Blanton pitches Friday, Jamie Moyer pitches Saturday against Tim Lincecum in what would have been Cliff Lee's regular turn, and Cole Hamels pitches Sunday. The Phillies are off on Monday. This can only mean one...
The Phillies Bag Cliff Lee in Bizarro World
It’s a very strange feeling to be a Phillies fan right now. The team looks all but invincible on the field. You turn on the tube and just expect them to be winning, and if they’re not, you figure they will be soon. Pedro Martinez is down in the minors dusting off his skills, and up in the bigs our braintrust just hunted down a prize fox from the American League, the Indians...
Cliff Lee Analysis
Indians lefty Cliff Lee just got traded to the Phillies along with OF Ben Fransisco for Jason Knapp, Carlos Carrasco, Jason Donald and Lou Marson. Back when I explored some potential Twins deals, I mentioned that I would break down any deals involving the Twins. Since the Twins see the Indians quite a bit in [...]

After weeks of Halladay talk, Philly opts for 'bargain' in Cliff Lee
So we just spent the better part of a month debating which package of top-flight prospects it'd take for the Phillies to pry Roy Halladay away from the Blue Jays. And how does it end? With Philadelphia deciding they'd rather trade a handful of less-favored prospects to Cleveland for reigning Cy Young pitcher Cliff Lee as well as a much-needed right-handed bat in outfielder Ben...
Phillies Get Their Guy In CLiff Lee
There won’t be any Roy Halladay parade in the streets of Philadelphia a it turns out, but that doesn’t mean that there won’t be a World Series parade in the coming months. The Phillies hopes for defending their crown are alive and well after the team agreed in principle to a trade that would send Cleveland left-hander Cliff Lee to the Phillies, FOXSport’s...
I Love A Parade
This site- which links to the City of Philadelphia’s application for a parade permit- might be very useful very soon!Certainly, Bill Conlin seems pleased in the PDN: I don't know if there is an all-points bulletin out for Ruben Amaro in Ohio, but there should be. Grand Theft. Really grand.Everyone seems pleased- as the Phillies were able to acquire Cliff Lee, the 2008 Cy Young...
Halladay or bust for Boston Red Sox
Now with Cliff Lee off the trade market, there's more pressure on the Boston Red Sox to acquire Toronto Blue Jays' ace Roy Halladay.
Jayson Stark from ESPN reported that Cleveland is sending Lee to the Philadelphia Phillies (pending a physical) in exchange for Triple A right-hander Carlos Carrasco, Class A RHP Jason Knapp, catcher Lou Marson, and shortstop Jason Donald.
