Redleg Nation:
I was wondering just how many good weeks Willy Taveras has had this season — it just feels like he’s had about three excellent weeks and 15 godawful ones. I was pretty close. Only thing I didn’t realize was that he’s actually been okay the past two or three weeks.
As you can see, Willy’s had two great weeks, four okay ones, and eight abysmal weeks.
(Plate appearance totals are more or less similar, except he only had seven PAs in one of his amazing .000 weeks.)

The second half begins….
I’m not going to lie to you; I’m a little concerned about the recent slide from the good guys. As noted the other day, this season is teetering on the edge. If the Reds go just 35-40 the rest of the way — I hope it doesn’t happen, but it isn’t entirely unreasonable, is it? — then they will finish the season 77-85...

The week ahead for the Dodgers
Dodgers face the Cincinnati Reds, managed by old friend Dusty Baker, in a three-game series at Dodger Stadium starting Monday.
When outfielder Dusty Baker joined the Dodgers in 1976, the Reds were their greatest rivals. Both teams played in the National League West then, and one or the...
Jason Schmidt will start against Cincinnati Reds on Monday
The right-hander has been rehabbing in the minor leagues for much of the season after experiencing shoulder pain.
Right-hander Jason Schmidt will make his first appearance in a big-league game in more than 25 months when he starts against the Cincinnati Reds on Monday.
The Next Great Cincinnati Red: Todd Frazier
Lately, the Cincinnati Reds have been on a youth movement, building their team from the farm system. Jay Bruce and Joey Votto are both great examples of that.
But there is another prospect in the Reds farm system who will be a star when he gets the call to the majors.
That future star is Todd Frazier.
Some people might be scratching their heads, wondering who this kid is? Allow me...
Full Count: Going, going, gone
The home run that Cincinnati's Joey Votto hit in the third inning Thursday night was the 23rd allowed by Braden Looper, most in the National League. A look at the top five offenders in throwing gopher balls:
