Michael Young was named the American League Player of the Week for his play last week. He beat out Oakland's Jack Cust, Red Sox DH David Ortiz, Yankees starter CC Sabathia and Orioles second baseman Brian Roberts.
Young was 15-for-30 with two doubles, a triple, a homer and 8 RBIs in six games last week. He had a .516 on-base percentage and a .733 slugging percentage.

Note that I said consideration. It's hard to imagine Joe Mauer or Mark Teixeira not winning the AL MVP. FoxSports.com recently did a comparison, giving the nod to Mauer at this point.
