The Alex Rodriguez saga continues in New York after the Yankees were swept in the ALCS leaving the future in a no win situation for the Bombers. They are not the only team impacted though, the Philadelphia Phillies will also be directly affected by the situation.
Benching A-Rod for more than one game has put a strain on his relationship with the team that will not be overcome. The Yankees will have to move him thus putting them in an already thin market for a third baseman.
Adding the Yankees into the mix of teams that need a third baseman will drive the price up considerably. The free agent market already does not offer any viable solutions so the cost in a trade has gone up even higher.
With the Braves needing to replace Chipper Jones, the real possibility of the Yankees being in the market, and the availability of options thin at best, Ruben Amaro has his work cut out for him with not a lot of money to fill this gaping hole until prospect Cody Asche is ready hopefully in 2014.
