Adrian Beltre Comes Back to Haunt Red Sox, As Ex-Players Always Seem to Do (Video)

Adrian Beltre killed the Red Sox on Friday night, because of course he’s going to be the one to do it. It always seems like former Red Sox players do the most damage against their former club whenever they meet again, whether it’s Josh Reddick, Brandon Moss, Beltre or someone else from Boston’s past. NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette does have one thing to feel positive about during...

Adrian Beltre, Will Middlebrooks Can Turn to Each Other as Source of Inspiration During Weekend Series

Here comes the part where we all make a joke — something along the lines of, “Hey, why can’t the Red Sox get players like that?” Adrian Beltre turned in a monster game against the Red Sox on Friday. He went 4-for-5 and delivered a bases-clearing double that broke the game open in the fourth inning. It’s exactly the type of performance that can bust a veteran out of a prolonged...

Beltre, Holland lead charge past Red Sox

The Rangers must have known somehow that I had a bad day and needed them tonight.  They sure came through.  What good boyfriends! Derek Holland was pretty great.  He tossed eight scoreless innings, allowing six hits and walking one while fanning six.  He didn’t have his usual meltdown inning, and he didn’t seem to lose focus even after his teammates gave him a nice big cushion...

The Middlebrooks muddle

photo Jason Miller/Getty Images Jan-Christian Sorensen Contributing Writer Prior to 2004, Red Sox fans often traded in a devalued, hindsight-based currency of What-Ifs: — What if Frazee hadn’t hocked Ruth to the Yankees? — What if Pesky had been a split-second earlier on the relay throw as Slaughter made his Mad Dash? — What if Conigliaro had been able to get out of the...

Sox Swept, Washburn Explains, Celtics To Be Gutted?

The Red Sox spent a rough weekend in Texas, getting swept by the Rangers, including a walk-off loss yesterday at the hands of old friend Adrian Beltre. The Red Sox offense fell silent this weekend, and Tim Britton notes that they’ve shown themselves vulnerable to most breaking pitches, especially the slider. Clay Buchholz looks to play the role of stopper tonight against the Twins...
