Found June 07, 2013 on Awful Announcing:
PLAYERS: Adam Dunn
TEAMS: Chicago White Sox
After one of his patented moments of silence for an opposition home run earlier this week, we were treated to another classic example of Hawk Harrelson homerism.  Thursday night the White Sox hosted the A's and went to extras once again.  Down 5-4 in the bottom of the 10th and down to their final out, Adam Dunn stepped up to the plate with a man on and hit a ball high and deep to left field that fell at the warning track for the final out of the game like something out of Major League.  Just listen to Hawk's call... Ah, there's nothing like hearing Hawk Harrelson yell out "daaaaad gum it!" like a grizzled 1890s prospector. I know why this ball didn't make it out for the tying home run - Hawk didn't ask for it to STRETCH.  I'm sure if Harrelson would have pleaded just a little bit more, that ball would have found enough juice to fly over the fence.  This is a loss you can clearly blame on the White Sox play by play man.

White Sox place Peavy on 15-day DL

The Chicago White Sox placed Jake Peavy on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a fracture of the left fourth anterior rib. The move was retroactive to Wednesday and the right-hander will miss at least the next four to six weeks. The 32-year-old Peavy left Tuesday night's start against Seattle after 2 1-3 innings, giving up six earned runs. Peavy felt something wrong in his...

White Sox place Jake Peavy on DL with fractured rib

Jake Peavy's injury will land him on the disabled list.  The 32-year old Chicago White Sox starter left Tuesday's start with pain in his rib.  X-rays initially came back clean, but it was clear Peavy was in a lot of pain and the team scheduled him for an MRI yesterday.  The MRI revealed a non-displaced fracture. Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times says the...

White Sox's Ventura on dad duty

The Chicago White Sox began a seven-game homestand Thursday without manager Robin Ventura. Ventura was slated to miss both Thursday's and Friday's games against the visiting Oakland Athletics, being excused so that he could attend his daughter's graduation in California. Bench coach Mark Parent replaced Ventura as interim manager for Thursday's game. Ironically...

Chicago White Sox Finally End Their Losing Streak

White Sox break their losing streak in a really weird way. 9 games ago I was really excited when the White Sox had crept up to .500 with a sweep of the Miami Marlins.  The calendar was about to flip to June and all those clichés were coming to mind. -         Let’s go on a run -         Warm weather heats up the bats -         Time to focus and push forward...

Josh Donaldson Slam Leads A’s Past Sale and the White Sox

Chicago White Sox starter Chris Sale was facing some hard luck this season and his unfortunate record fell to 5-4 despite a 2.68 season ERA thanks to Josh Donaldson. The Oakland A’s third baseman entered his at bat in the sixth inning with his team down 3-0 and facing one of the best young pitchers in baseball.Donaldson also had the luxury of batting with the bases loaded and...

Fan Bowls Over Small Child While Going After Grand Slam Ball in Mariners-White Sox 16-Inning Game (Video)

The White Sox’ 7-5 win over the Mariners in 16 innings on Wednesday was memorable on a few levels, but what may end up being the most enduring image from the game didn’t involve any of the players. The contest featured 13 innings of scoreless baseball followed by both teams putting five runs on the board in the 14th. For the Mariners, those runs came via a two-out Kyle Seager...

Athletics 5, White Sox 4(10)

Adam Rosales hit a two-out homer in the top of the 10th inning, and the Oakland Athletics had a season high four home runs in a 5-4 win over the Chicago White Sox on Thursday night. Rosales' fourth homer of the season came off White Sox reliever Matt Thornton (0-2), a 1-1 pitch that was just fair to left field. Yoenis Cespedes hit two home runs for the second time in three...

June 6: Athletics 5, White Sox 4

For the second night in a row, the White Sox headed for extra innings. Tonight’s contest was much different from yesterday’s in Seattle, as it didn’t go 16 innings, and the White Sox didn’t come out on top. Mark Parent comes up empty in his White Sox managerial debut. COULDN’T HOLD THEM After a hard fought win yesterday, this loss will sting, as the Sox let...

Marathon victim throws out 1st pitch for White Sox

A victim of the Boston Marathon bombings has thrown out the first pitch at a Chicago White Sox game, thanks to an assist from the Oval Office. Karen Rand of Somerville, Mass., did the honors Saturday before the game against the Oakland Athletics, less than two months after she lost her left leg in the explosions. From a wheelchair about halfway between the mound and the plate she...

A's come back to beat White Sox 4-3

Josh Donaldson hit his first career grand slam, Josh Reddick made a homer-saving catch in the ninth inning, and the Oakland Athletics rallied from a three-run deficit Friday night for a 4-3 victory over Chris Sale and the Chicago White Sox. Donaldson's ninth home run of the season came in the sixth inning and helped Oakland right-hander Jarrod Parker (5-6) earn his fourth win...

Grown man runs over child to snag ball during Mariners-White Sox game (video)

If I noted that it was a grand slam ball, would that make any difference? Yeah, didn’t think so. Anyway, it was a doozy of a humdinger of a ballgame at Safeco Field on Wednesday as the Seattle Mariners hosted the Chicago White Sox. The game ended after sixteen innings with the visiting ChiSox beating [...]The post Grown man runs over child to snag ball during Mariners-White Sox...
