This evening during the game, MASN's Roch Kubatko reported the news that many fans were awaiting -- Adam Jones' contract extension is now official. It was only a matter of time before a deal was done, and the day came. Jones and the Baltimore Orioles agreed to a six-year, $85.5 million contract extension according to the Baltimore Sun. As reported by the local media, the deal for Jones is the largest in franchise history. He will not be a free agent until 2018, and the deal buys out his final year of abritration, plus the first five of his free agent years. Also, the Orioles.com Brittany Ghiroli reports that, "the contract includes a no-trade provision, and escalators can bring the value of the extension to $91.5 million." There will be a press conference on Sunday at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Sunday will indeed be a big day for Jones, his family and the organization. James and I have poured out our thoughts on this deal before it happened; however, it'...

Orioles Extend Adam Jones for 6 Years, $85 M

Orioles fans have been clamoring for it all season, and the team seems to have finally locked up Adam Jones with a contract extension. I was a little worried that they would feel they "had" to keep Jones, and end up giving him a Matt Kemp type deal (8 years, $160 M), but was looking at 6 years, $80-90 M myself. Actual contract; 6 years, $85 M. Nicely done, Orioles...

Royals upend Orioles late; Jones and the playoffs?

The Baltimore Orioles on Saturday ended up losing to the Kansas City Royals in a close contest, 4-3, at Camden Yards. It was a hard fought game by the Birds; however, in the final third of the contest, the bullpen could not hold a 3-2 lead, mistakes, plus an inability to get runners on base and advance them in the final frame cost the Orioles a chance to win their 30th game of the...

The Baltimore Orioles reportedly are near a team-record deal with center fielder Adam Jones. The Orioles will sign Jones to a deal much higher than those given to Miguel Tejada and Nick Markakis, a source close to the team told Fox Sports. Jones and Roberts: Thoughts and Feelings

The 2012 Orioles continue to be one of the more interesting teams in baseball right now. Despite the series loss to Boston this week the Orioles are opening up a weekend series against the Kansas City Royals with even more intrigue. First, Brian Roberts. The man that I was sure was completely done at the beginning of the year has made two rehab starts in Bowie so far. How he has...

Bigger Surprise: Orioles or Dodgers?

As I’m writing this, the Dodgers and Orioles are both in first place, with neither team expected to make a major splash in the off-season (though our very own Thomas Wayne did predict a major improvement for the O’s this season. The Orioles currently sit at 29-19 (though they’re losing to the Blue Jays as I write). The bats have been there, with 5 regulars posting OPS+’s...

The Baltimore Orioles have hit a bit of a rough patch. Facing the struggling Toronto Blue Jays might help them get back on track. The visiting Orioles look to avoid matching a season high with their third straight loss Monday night by handing the Blue Jays a sixth consecutive defeat.
