The error allowed Jones to head for second, but as he made the turn, he accidentally stepped on the foot of first base umpire Hunter Wendelstedt, who was backpedaling out of the basepath but just wasn't fast enough. The trip caused Wendelstedt to lose his balance and fall backwards, and he hit his head on the dirt pretty hard, but fortunately he appeared to be OK afterwards. Video via MLB. Watch: Orioles’ Adam Jones Knocks Over Ump While Trying to Advance to Second

This doesn’t happen every day. Baltimore Orioles’ outfielder Adam Jones tried rounding first base after an errant throw from Blue Jays’ third baseman Juan Francisco, and ended up knocking over the first base umpire. Hunter Wendelstedt, the umpire, took a nasty spill even though it doesn’t appear there was too much contact. Your browser does not support iframes. Any chance...

Orioles Prospect Quintin Berry Runs Bases And Slides Into Home After Getting Ejected

We’ve seen baseball players and coaches do some pretty wildly immature things to protest an ejection – most commonly kicking dirt, spitting, and throwing hats, bats and bases – but I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed what Quintin Berry did last night. The Norfolk Tides (Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles) outfielder got into an exchange with the first base umpire...

Quintin Berry Runs Bases, Slides Into Home After Being Ejected (Video)

Baltimore Orioles minor league outfielder Quintin Berry made a memorable, albeit ultimately confusing, exit following his ejection Thursday night. The former Red Sox speedster is now with the Norfolk Tides, the Triple-A affiliate of the O’s, and he’s still motoring around the bases — just not at the right times. After Berry collected his first hit of the night in the ninth...

Baltimore Orioles at Tampa Bay Rays game preview

TV: Sun Sports Time: Pregame coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. Wei-Yin Chen hasn't lost in over six weeks, and his latest performance was his best of the season. Chen looks to extend his personal winning streak and help the Baltimore Orioles to their longest run against the Tampa Bay Rays in seven years Monday night. Chen (7-2, 3.76 ERA) has already matched his win total from last...

Quintin Berry Gets Ejected, Proceeds To Round Bases And Slide Into Home

Quintin Berry, the former Detroit Tigers outfielder, who currently plays for the Baltimore Orioles’ Triple-A affiliate Norfolk Tide, completely lost his mind during Thursday night’s game. After hitting a single in the bottom of the ninth with his team down two runs, Berry for some reason ran his mouth at the home plate ump and got ejected. Instead […] The post Quintin Berry...

Watch: Quintin Berry Runs the Bases After Being Ejected from Triple-A Game

Most players have to earn their way to home plate—but don’t tell that to former Tigers OF Quintin Berry. During the ninth inning of Thursday’s Norfolk Tides-Syracuse Chiefs game, Berry cranked out a base hit that trickled into the outfield. He represented the tying run at first base, and gave the team some hope. But for some reason, he began arguing with the first base umpire...

Adam Jones Sends Umpire Tumbling While Rounding First Base (GIF)

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig proved there’s no safe place for an umpire over the weekend when he nearly took out the home plate ump with a bat flip. It’s safe to say that Adam Jones one-upped Puig on Saturday. The Baltimore Orioles outfielder sent first base umpire Hunter Wendelstedt tumbling to the ground in the fifth inning while trying to advance from first...

Norris continues Orioles' strong run of pitching, Davis homers in 3-2 win over Blue Jays

There’s no secret formula, no sudden epiphany. If the Orioles are going to compete in the American League East all year, they need to get consistent, quality starting pitching. If the last week is any indication, the Orioles’ rotation is showing signs it may do its part. Counting Saturday afternoon’s 3-2 victory against the Toronto Blue Jays, the Orioles have registered six...

Baltimore Orioles Learning Curve

#450436742 / It’s been a rough couple of days for Baltimore Orioles third base man Manny Machado. He is facing a five game suspension for intentionally throwing his bat on Sunday in reaction to a pitch up and in from Oakland’s Fernando Abad. During Friday’s game he was the recipient of a hard tag from A’s third base man Josh Donaldson. Saturday he hit A...

Quintin Berry rounds bases, slides home after being ejected (Video)

Quintin Berry, who has spent time in the majors over the past two seasons with the Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers, is currently playing with the Baltimore Orioles’ Triple-A affiliate Norfolk Tide. Berry was ejected from Thursday night’s game against the Syracuse Chiefs. Before he left the field, he did something we have never […]

Video: Ex-Tiger Quintin Berry Ejected … So He Runs the Bases, Slides Into Home

Former Detroit Tigers outfielder Quintin Berry responded to an ejection in perhaps the most bizarre way you’ll ever see, during a game between the Norfolk Tides and Syracuse Chiefs on Thursday night. Berry singled with two outs in the ninth inning, then was ejected by the home-plate umpire at some point after he reached first base. So Berry decided he would protest that call by...
