Like the Red Sox soon will, the Baltimore Orioles are currently on a West Coast, National League road trip. Playing in San Francisco for a Sunday afternoon 10-2 win, Adam Jones says he was the victim of a racist display by a fan. After the win, the Baltimore center fielder took to Twitter to let his followers know that a fan in the outfield stands of AT&T Park threw a banana his direction during the ninth inning of the game. Throwing a banana at African American athletes has a long history as a form of racial abuse, mostly in European soccer. Giants senior director of media relations Jim Moorehead said that the team will review security footage from the game, according to The Baltimore Sun. Aside from that, all we have is Jones’ account of what happened. Check out Jones’ tweets below. I love how some ppl are defending the actions by someone today. Shows how u really are also. All good wit me.
