Found May 01, 2013 on NESN.com:
Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright may be off to a hot start, with a 2.03 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in six starts so far this season. However, the man isn’t just a pitcher, he’s a human being with many eclectic interests. Wainwright recently sat down with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch to talk about being a foodie, among other topics. The 31-year-old right-hander also spoke about subjects like how he got his No. 50 and some of the Cardinals’ younger pitchers, but really the focus on the interview was food — Wainwright doesn’t rule out a career as a food critic after baseball. Most of Wainwright’s interview was standard fare, but his comments on his love of barbecue did seem a little odd. “Because I can eat good barbeque every single day of my whole life, without question, no doubt,” said Wainwright. “I can tell you that right now. I love it. I’m obsessed with it. Also, bad barbeque makes me want to fight somebody. “… When I have a really bad rib or a really bad pulled pork, it just makes me angry.

Adam Wainwright: Bad barbecue makes me want to fight somebody

St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright loves baseball. If he didn’t, he probably would not be pitching professionally. But there is something in life he seems to love much, much more. That something is barbecue. During a Q&A with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch earlier this week, Wainwright discussed how big of a foodie he considers himself to be. When Derrick Goold asked...

St. Louis Cardinals: DAniel Descalso's days in St. Louis should be numbered

Entering the 2013 season, the St. Louis Cardinals had obvious question marks up the middle. So many question marks in fact, that they pulled an old Tony La Russa trick and converted Matt Carpenter, a natural third baseman, into a second baseman to create a platoon situation with Daniel Descalso. Carpenter has pulled his weight and held his own at second, but with David Freese struggling...

Mike O'Neill is what "Moneyball" is all about.

If you want to see Moneyball in action, all you have to do is go to Springfield, MO and watch Mike O'Neill play. By most scouts' standards, O'Neill would not be a prospect.  He stand only 5'9", has no power and little speed.  But what he does have is the uncanny ability to get on base. Through 25 games this year, O'Neill is hitting .338 with a .490 OBP...

Adam Wainwright will literally fight you over bad barbecue and we can't argue that

Basically, the 2010 Cy Young Award runner-up Adam Wainwright loves barbecue, but don't let him catch you messing up what could have been a perfectly good piece of meat.

Peoria Chiefs bailout plan approved by City Council

Last fall, the St. Louis Cardinals committed to return its Class-A affiliation to Peoria for at least the next four years, from 2013 through 2016. The only question that has arisen since was whether the Chiefs would be able to remain in the Illinois city for the duration of the contract. Dealing with serious financial difficulties, the money-losing club put together an assistance...

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Mat Latos outpitched Adam Wainwright, extending his scoreless innings streak to 17, and the Cincinnati Reds got an RBI apiece from Joey Votto and Xavier Paul in a 2-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday night. Aroldis Chapman worked a perfect ninth for his sixth save in six chances. Yadier Molina had an RBI double off Jonathan Broxton that produced the...

Cardinals' Matt Adams should return Tuesday

St. Louis Cardinals rookie first baseman Matt Adams is on course to return from the DL on Tuesday when he is eligible, according to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Adams (oblique) will join Double-A Springfield today to start a rehab assignment, then join the Cardinals in Chicago on Tuesday. Adams is looking forward to getting back into live games. “Seeing...

Wainwright, Cards welcome Reds back to Busch

(AP) -- The Cincinnati Reds didn't face Adam Wainwright in their visit to Busch Stadium earlier this month. They won't be so fortunate this time around. Wainwright will try to help the St. Louis Cardinals avoid a season-high third consecutive loss on Monday night when these NL Central foes renew their rivalry. Trying to build off a season-opening 4-2 homestand, the Reds...

Garcia (3-1) gave up one run on seven hits, struck out three and did not walk a batter. The left-hander improved to 7-0 in eight starts against...

Westbrook leads the Cards into Milwaukee

(AP) -- The St. Louis Cardinals already quieted the bats of the Milwaukee Brewers in one series this season. With a starting rotation that continues to roll along with strong performances, they'll try to do it again. Jake Westbrook will take the ball Thursday night for the opener of a four-game set at Miller Park. St. Louis took two of three from the Brewers in St. Louis from...

St. Louis Cardinals beat Cincinnati Reds 2-1 behind solid outing by Jaime Garica

St. Louis Cardinals starter Jaime Garcia came into the 2013 with mixed expectations after he struggled on the road and with injuries throughout 2012. So far, so good for Garcia this season and especially on Tuesday night as the lefty tossed eight solid innings to lift the Cardinals to a 2-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds. Garcia's eight innings were dominant as he did not surrender...

Cardinals/Reds: Three Things To Walk With

The Cardinals brought an end to a brief slide over the weekend with a series win over the Cincinnati Reds. Despite still not getting the offense going on all cylinders, the strong starting pitching staff continued to hold the fort down in the mean time. After dropping the first game of the series 2-1, club surrendered only three runs over the next two contests to pull itself out...

This Will Do For The Day

I'd like to think I could focus in and write about a big Cardinals win against Reds that re-claimed 1st place in the NL Central.  Can't. Need to watch this all day.
