Jeremy Affeldt and Valuing Relievers
Based on reports from the last few days, the Giants have reportedly agreed to re-sign Jeremy Affeldt to a three year, $18 million contract. Predictably, the internet has responded with scorn.
Three years for a reliever. Might as well give the money to Jean-Ralphio “@marcoacosta28: @keithlaw you like the Affeldt signing ?”

The odd pattern of middle relievers signing multi-year deals looks like it will continue on Tuesday as the defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants will be the latest to join the party. Giants Overpaid Jeremy Affeldt
Brant Ward/San Francisco Chronicle
Fresh off of winning their second World Series in three years, the San Francisco Giants have come to terms with Jeremy Affeldt, re-signing the left-hander to a three-year, $18 million deal.
Considering how high the Los Angeles Dodgers set the bar for signing serviceable but replaceable relievers, the Giants did well enough in keeping the total...
Gregor Blanco’s rise from obscurity, and his comparison to another postseason surprise
San Francisco Giants OF Gregor Blanco came into the 2012 season probably wondering what AAA team could use him as an everyday player. The last thing he could have thought was he would be the Giants everyday LF throughout their run to the World Series Championship. While guys like Pablo Sandoval, Buster Posey and Marco Scutaro led the Giants to their victory, Blanco remained a constant...
Melky Cabrera Drawing Interest. Really.
Looks like Melky Cabrera still might get a fat paycheck even though he got popped for elevated testosterone levels suggesting PED use. It is being reported that at least five teams have expressed interest in the outfielder. Why? I'm not sure. He still has an incredible arm, but if these teams are going after the Melkman for his bat, chances are they are going to be sorely disappointed...

Pablo Sandoval rocks customized “Panda” jersey at 49ers game
San Francisco is a city in high spirits regarding their sports teams right now. The Giants just won the Word Series last month and the 49ers are a Super Bowl contender. Despite playing a resilient St. Louis Rams team to a 24-24 tie yesterday (the first in the NFL since 2008), there was a special guest at Candlestick Park to take in the 49ers game.
That guest? The one and only Pablo...

Like Kissing The Friendzone
Yes, in addition to commentary on the Giants, we have some characters, and they have lives too!
As a disclaimer, since three people will believe otherwise… The topic of this and the upcoming comics are a story I’d planned to touch upon since this comic was first brainstormed years ago. I wasn’t even planning to do it this week, but the ridiculous cliché about ties and the...
