Lance Berkman has struggled since his return from the disabled list. The switch-hitting slugger has started just one game since his return and is hitless in six plate appearances, striking out three times.
Berkman served as a pinch hitter in the St. Louis Cardinals 3-2 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night. Berkman struck out on a check swing call made by home plate umpire Brian Gorman. Gorman did not consult with his first base umpire, making the call himself, which ended up causing Berkman to be irate.
Berkman argued on the field initially, then reviewed the replay in the clubhouse before returning to the dugout and then the field after Gorman tossed him.
