Found October 18, 2012 on The Outside Corner:
The Detroit Tigers beat the New York Yankees 8-1 in game four of their ALCS matchup, sweeping the series four games to none to advance to the World Series. Before the season, we all expected the Tigers to be in a position reasonably close to this....but the way they got there was totally unexpected. Detroit trailed the White Sox in the AL Central for most of the season before clinching the division on the final weekend of the regular season, and going into the playoffs with the worst record among all five American League teams. They dispatched the AL West champion A's in a hard-fought five games series, and then looked like a juggernaut in sweeping the Yankees in the ALCS without trailing in a game all series. That's just an absurd notation. As for tonight's game, the Tigers got a fantastic start from Max Scherzer, awesome relief pitching, and their trademark incredible offense. The offense's performance was even more impressive considering that CC Sabathia...

Will Jose Valverde pitch in the World Series?

The good news is the Detroit Tigers have won the America League pennant and are headed to the World Series for the 11th time in franchise history. The somewhat bad news is much like 2006 the Tigers will have an extended break before the final frame of the 2012 playoff begins. The Fall Classic is set to begin next Wednesday night. Of course that leaves plenty of time to discuss...

No pinch hitter for A-Rod -- he isn't even in Yankees' lineup

Alex Rodriguez's name was not on the New York Yankees' lineup card for Game 4 of the ALCS, and although the game was postponed by rain, the three-time AL MVP is expected to be benched when the Yankees and Tigers resume the series Thursday at Comerica Park. "I'm obviously not doing somersaults," Rodriguez said. "I'm not happy about it. Obviously, you...

Report: Rodriguez willing to go elsewhere

Alex Rodriguez's days appeared to be numbered in New York after his benching during the playoffs and the Yankees third baseman says he's open to going elsewhere. Rodriguez won't lobby for a trade, a source told USA Today, but both sides are looking for a way out. He has five years and $114 million remaining on his contract. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman rejected...

After Ugly Postseason, the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers May be Temporarily Trading Places

Growing up in the 1990s, I never thought I’d see the day when the New York Yankees looked so, well, staggeringly human. I also never thought the hometown Detroit Tigers would be the ones firing the critical salvos to finally … Continue reading →

NY Media proclaims end of world after Yankees lose

And we are pretty sure that this will all be blamed on Alex Rodriguez. The New York tabloid media continues having a field day with the New York Yankees after they were swept by the Detroit Tigers in the American League Championship series. Of course, one must remember that in New York World, they are supposed to be in and win the World Series every year. Now back to the rest...

This ALCS feels different for Tigers

DETROIT -- Six years ago, the Detroit Tigers playoff defeat of the New York Yankees was the apex of their season even more than the World Series that followed. They had beaten the Yankees, the very symbol of baseball grandeur, marking the franchises return to relevancy. The Tigers lost that World Series to St. Louis and then waited five long years before returning to the postseason...

You May Find This Car In Flames On Rt. 93 In Portsmouth. The Yankees lost Derek Jeter to a broken ankle. The Yankees were swept in the ALCS  by the Detroit Tigers. VIDEO: Tigers finally take down the Empire in Game 4 of the ALCS

Heading into this year’s ALCS you’d think the Yankees would be looking for some revenge after the Tigers were the Bombers’ kryptonite ousting New York in the 2006 and 2011 ALDS’. However this time around instead of an Empire Strikes Back run of things, the series played out much like George Lucas probably would’ve envisioned himself… with the Empire defeated, Vader gone...

Jeter hunts for Manhattan apartment rental

Derek Jeter is on the prowl once again.  No, he's not putting requests for phone numbers on baseballs and throwing them into the Yankee Stadium bleachers.  That would be tacky. New York's top bachelor — sorry A-Rod — has reportedly been scouring the Manhattan apartment market for a rental after he sold his Trump World Tower penthouse for $15.5 million last week, says...

Anonymous Yankees player admits that team was devastated by home crowd boos

It's been a rough couple of months for Red Sox fans to say the least. Between the mediocre play, the neverending drama surrounding the team, and the bitterness that comes from being at the bottom of the division. To make things worse, the Yankees have been looking great and it appears that we were in a full role reversal, with the Red Sox having the overpaid/underperforming...
