Game 4 of the AL championship series between the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers was postponed because of bad weather in the area Wednesday night - although Comerica Park was still dry when the game was called. Wednesday night's game was rescheduled for Thursday at 4:07 p.m., when Game 5 was originally slated to be played. Detroit leads the best-of-seven series 3-0. The first pitch had been scheduled for 8:07 p.m., but shortly before then the crowd was informed of a delay. A radar forecast for the Detroit area was eventually posted on the scoreboard video screen, as if to explain to fans why there was no baseball despite what was still rather pleasant weather at the ballpark. The postponement was announced after a delay of about 1 hour, 10 minutes. A misty rain finally began about 15 minutes after the postponement was announced. The Tigers are no strangers to rain in the playoffs. Last year, ace Justin Verlander had two starts cut short by bad weather - although both we...

Is C.C. Sabathia’s elbow injured?

Fresh off being utterly dominated by the Tigers pitching staff and getting swept out of the playoffs for the first time in over 35 years, there is more prospective bad news for the Yankees. Sports Illustrated is reporting that the Yankees want C.C. Sabathia to have his elbow examined this offseason. Sabathia, who has been [...]

CC: I Didn't Give Them A Chance

From Marc Carig:The moment he released the pitch, a look of disgust swept over the face of CC Sabathia. The desperate Yankees needed something close to perfection from their ace. But he had just made another mistake, one that Miguel Cabrera turned into a two-run homer and a 4-0 lead. Sabathia winced. It was all he could do as the Tigers pounded him in an 8-1 victory that clinched...

19 Best Twitter Reactions To Mitt Romney’s Detroit Tigers Tweet

Obviously the Yankees choked last night. With CC Sabathia on the mound the offense laid a complete egg (again) en route to an 8-1 loss. Tigers fans went nuts. The early game led to early drinking and a long night of partying. Then Mitt Romney stepped in. He set Twitter on fire with one simple tweet: Yes, this is the same man who wrote an op-ed for the New York Times called “Let...

Yankees ALCS Game 4: Tigers eliminate Yankees

New York Yankees 1 — Detroit Tigers 8   The Yankees season comes to an end in tonight’s 8-1 loss to the Detroit Tigers.   CC Sabathia took the mound in tonight’s potential elimination game. The Yankees ace was not able to give the Yankees a quality effort. Sabathia’s start didn’t go well from the beginning when Delmon Young got the Tigers an early 1-0 lead in the 1st...

Baseball’s king, New York Yankees are swept by Detroit Tigers

C.C. Sabathia’s pitcher was pasted all over Facebook with the words: Believe. The Yankees were down 0-3, and Sabathia, because of rain delays, would not pitch again in the series. Well, the Detroit Tigers pasted the Yankees 8-1, swept them as Miguel Cabrera and Jhonny Peralta hit two-run homers in a four-run fourth inning. The Yankees scored just three runs in 39 innings during...

Sabathia to face Scherzer in rescheduled Game 4 of ALCS

DETROIT – The Tigers’ possible American League Championship Series clinching celebration was put on hold for at least 24 hours Wednesday night when Detroit’s game with the New York Yankees was postponed because of threatening weather. The Yankees will still send ace CC Sabathia to the mound Thursday to see if they can start clawing their way out of the 0-3 hole they are in...

Cabrera, Peralta may have ended the Yankees' season

With CC Sabathia and the Yankees trailing 2-0 in the fourth inning, and fading fast, Sabathia needed to get out of the inning quickly. After a single by Omar Infante, AL Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera stepped in and hit a monstrous homer to left field to double the Tigers lead to 4-0. The Tigers weren't done after Cabrera's homer, though. Sabathia struck out...

Tigers will try to end Yanks' season

This time, ending the New York Yankees' season means the Detroit Tigers will return to the World Series for the first time in six years. CC Sabathia will try to prevent a celebration, but the Yankees' bats may be more important to keeping the champagne corked. Max Scherzer looks to help the Tigers complete the first postseason sweep of the Yankees in 32 years Wednesday...

HOW SWEEP IT IS: Tigers oust Yankees to move onto the World Series

Without a wimper and without a fight the Yankee Empire as we know it may have fallen for good. Thursday evening the Detroit Tigers completed the four game sweep of the once feared Yankees after an 8-1 victory from Comerica. Park. With their backs against the wall, CC Sabathia was anything but impressive when it mattered going only 3.2 innings allowing 6 runs (5 earned) on 11 hits...

Tigers could benefit from rainout because Yankees don't

The rain that poured onto Comerica Park on Wednesday night, shortly after Game 4 of the American League Championship Series between Detroit and the visiting New York Yankees was postponed by threatening weather, could wind up dampening the Yankees' parade much more than the Tigers'. And manager Joe Girardi might find himself wondering why he didn't gamble and pitch...

Postponement favors Tigers in ALCS

The Detroit Tigers didn't win the American League pennant Wednesday night. But strategically speaking, they won the rainout. When Major League Baseball postponed Game 4 until Thursday, the Tigers benefited in two ways: CC Sabathia will no longer be available to pitch a potential Game 7 for the New York Yankees, and Detroit reliever Phil Coke -- who temporarily ascended to the...

Thoughts From A Dejected Yankee Fan

This postseason has been interesting to say the least. About two weeks ago, I would have told you that the Yankees were going to sweep the Orioles in the ALDS. Their ace was pitching Game 1; the winningest pitcher in postseason history was going in Game 2, followed by their most consistent pitcher all season in Game 3. As we now know, the Yankees-Orioles series wasn’t that easy...
