Chicago White Sox slugger Alex Rios becomes the 32nd Major League Baseball player to have six base hits on six at-bats in a nine inning game. Rios was also the first player to collect four base hits off Cy Young winner, Justin Verlander who seemed to be throwing batting practice as he gave up 12 of the teams 23 hits Tuesday night. Verlander also gave up five earned runs in seven innings pitch.
Tonight belongs to Alex Rios, who raised his average from .267 to .281 by slugging out five singles and a triple back in the third inning. The White Sox scored 11 runs on 23 hits and the odd thing about Rios’ six hit night was he drove in two runs and score only once! Take a look at Alex’s six hit game.

BEST OF MAXIM
The Chicago White Sox are going nowhere this year and have a bunch of old players that will be gone either this year or after the 2014 season. Time to reboot, reload and make another run to do that they need to trade Chris Sale.
The White Sox may get decent value for Alex Rios, Jesse Crain or Matt Lindstrom. Also maybe a sort of ok pick for Adam Dunn or Jake Peavy if he comes...
With as bad as the White Sox 2013 season is going, there have been more bright spots than you'd expect.
What's up, starting rotation?
After a very consistent and impressive under-the-radar minor league career, Robin Ventura, Don Cooper & co. figured it was time to give Dylan Axelrod a chance at a regular big league job. And for a while, Dylan was impressing us...
DETROIT (AP) -- Alex Rios tied an American League mark with six hits in a nine-inning game and Adam Dunn hit a go-ahead, two-run homer off Justin Verlander in the eighth to lift the Chicago White Sox to an 11-4 win over the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday.
Dayan Vicideo's second homer of the game helped the White Sox score seven runs in the eighth inning, and they scored three more...
Following yesterday's simulated game, Chicago White Sox right-hander Jake Peavy told the team that he was hoping to be activated from the disabled list this weekend to start Sunday's contest against the Philadelphia Phillies. While Peavy feels ready to return, his next step is expected to be a rehab start on Sunday, not an appearance in the majors. The veteran is anxious...
Anyone familiar with Hawk Harrelson's penchant for going totally silent during particularly painful Chicago White Sox moments might sometimes wonder if Harrelson is still in fact alive in the booth. The unabashed homer who's been calling Sox games for two decades is still kicking at the age of 71, but when he does die he wants it to happen in that exact spot.
With the White Sox an obvious seller before the trade deadline, the team and fan base seem committed to improving the future of the organization by parting with the majority of its veteran players. Rick Hahn made it known a few weeks back that just about everyone was available for the right price.
But does that include 2013 All Star and Sox ace Chris Sale?
While the White Sox offense played well again, the pitching was not there this time around. Dylan Axelrod was roughed up early, and the team just could not dig themselves out of an early hole.
Detroit Handles “Ax”
Once again, it was just not Dylan Axelrod’s night, and we’ve been saying that all too often recently. Dylan was able to help the bullpen out by pitching...
The White Sox and Cubs will officially wrap up their Crosstown Series with a makeup game on Monday night at US Cellular Field. The game was rained out shortly after starting back in May, and the slate was wiped clean. The Sox are fresh off a predictable sweep at the hands of the Rays in Tampa, while the Cubs won two of three from Pittsburgh at Wrigley.
This is a one...
Justin Verlander was woeful early in his career against the Chicago White Sox, but he has dominated them over the last four seasons.
He and the Detroit Tigers will get their first look at the White Sox in 2013 in the opener of a three-game set at Comerica Park on Tuesday night.
Verlander (9-5, 3.54 ERA) went 2-9 with a 5.90 ERA in his first 14 starts against Chicago from 2006-09...
It is game two of the three game series.
Dylan Axelrod is in the mound office today. So far there is no rain, so it looks like an on time start.
Grab that snack and see you soon.
*2 – 0 (tigers Lead)
Sox – De Aza(ground out to first), Ramirez(ground out to short), Rios(ground out to short),
Tigers - (flied out to center)(single to left)(popped...
Earlier today I wrote a post on the Rangers being interested in Norichika Aoki, now it appears that the Ranges are targeting that position in a big way as the trade deadline nears. The Rangers may not be looking for an average player right now. It appears that they are going after some of the bigger fish on the market.
Buster Olney of ESPN tweeted earlier today that the Rangers...
50-40, 1st place, 3.5 games up.
Last night’s win was about as ho-hum as an 8 -5 win gets. Porcello got the W by pitching well enough. Cabrera, Fielder and VMart each collected 3 hits, but only 1 XBH (a fielder HR) among them. And I gotta say, it’s a little disappointing when Cabrera only gets 1 RBI. Smyly was incredible and Benoit avoided trouble after 2 walks for his 8th save...
With Andrew Miller on the disabled list, Craig Breslow is the lone lefty in the bullpen. But trade rumors have it that the Red Sox are looking to change that.
Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports
According to a tweet from Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal, Chicago White Sox reliever Matt Thornton is on the "long Red Sox list of possible bullpen...
49-40, 1st place, 2.5 games up.
Last night’s game left me with little motivation to write up anything today.
All I know is that we need to win to have a shot at winning the series.
Lineup coming later.
