The disturbing allegations of PED usage are just getting worse and more detailed for Alex Rodriguez. By now this story has been covered by almost every angle and in most cases it feels like we are in a space-time continuum that has warped us back to 2005. At this point fans of Alex Rodriguez and the Yankees don’t need to hear an apology, they don’t need to hear agents or PR reps, they just need to hear the truth. ARod is currently leading or tied for the lead in the three major baseball hitting categories amongst active players for their career. ESPN’s Outside the Lines has quoted their sources that have information on Alex Rodriguez doses and visits. Those details can be seen below: The texts, the source said, usually came late at night, telling Anthony Bosch to come to the house. Bosch would then head to the waterfront mansion on Biscayne Bay, through the gate on North Bay Road, to inject performance-enhancing drugs into Alex Rodriguez. Procedures were different, though, sources told “Outside the Lines,” for the other athletes who were customers of Bosch’s Biogenesis of America clinic in Coral Gables, which Major League Baseball considers the center of a widespread doping operation in South Florida. Those athletes, sources said, relied on intermediaries to transport the performance-enhancing drug regimens Bosch provided. But for A-Rod, the service was always personal: “Only Tony handled A-Rod,” one source told “Outside the Lines.” Those details don’t bring anything new to the world of PEDs and their usage in baseball. The “Steroid Era” isn’t over in baseball and it’s likely that the game will never be “pure” again. Medicine will forever be one step ahead of the MLB and it’s up to future generations to determine whether they value on-field production more than baseball purity. Suspensions can be handed out if they make Major League Baseball feel better about itself, but fans don’t see any benefits from not having their favorite player on the field. Fans deserve the truth from these players, both the clean and the dirty ones. If a player is caught they owe the fans an honest explanation, they owe the club an apology, and the league nothing. A league that has been built on the circumvention of the rules since it’s inception. Whether it has been Spitballs, gambling, or the rampant use of Amphetamines; baseball has had an ugly checkered past and PEDs is just the newest evolution. Alex Rodriguez and players of this generation shouldn’t fear the truth. The lies are what creates a negative perception of them by the younger generations, generations that openly disregards baseball purity, Generations that will ultimately decide their legacy.
