Leave it to Alfredo Aceves to be part of some controversy, and now on a global stage. During the World Baseball Classic's Mexico v. Canada game at Chase Field in Arizona a full two-team brawl broke out. When Canada's Rene Tosoni was hit by a pitch from Mexico's Arnold Leon, the batter made hit way towards to the mound then all hell broke loose.
Red Sox pitcher Alfredo Aceves immediately got in the mix and was on the wrong end of two connecting punches. Aceves spent a considerable amount of time with Blue Jays prospect Jay Johnson. If you look closely in the following video, you can see Johnson #57 land some punches on Aceves.
The police had to be involved in order to settle things down and apparently some fights broke out in the stands as well. Plenty of debris from the crowd was also thrown on the field. Canada went on to win 10-3.
