Not overlooking tonight’s series opener between the Seattle Mariners and Oakland A’s, which will send Dan Straily to the hill to face off against Hisashi Iwakuma, but the more interesting game of the series could turn into the match-up on Saturday.
The probable pitchers are currently listed as Brandon Maurer for Seattle and Jarrod Parker for the A’s.
Parker was pulled early from his last start though with a neck strain and indicated that he would rather take care of the problem earlier than let it linger as the season goes on.
To make things interesting, Saturday’s Parker start falls right on the normal rotation day for Triple-A ace and 2011 top draft pick, Sonny Gray. Should Oakland need to make a move following the game, Gray would pitch on his normal day in Parker’s next scheduled start, Friday, May 17th against the Kansas City Royals at the Oakland Coliseum.
